I'm just wondering what people's opinions are on the XD 9 Tactical. There's one for sale and the price seems reasonable ($475) for a used gun with a trigger upgrade, FO front and "match" rear sight upgrades, holster, grip tape, and 4 16rd magazines. The handgun has a small cosmetic blemish near the rear sight (I assume it's from installation of the aftermarket sight). Other than that, I assume it works and isn't broken in some fashion.

I was looking at the XDMs when I purchased my CZ P07. I like the P07 and want to pick up the P09 too, when it comes out. But I like the look of the XDMs and in turn the XDs. Any reason why the XD isn't a usable handgun? Bud's price (out of stock price display) showed the handgun to be near the $430 mark.

Is $475 reasonable for a used piece with upgrades and additional magazines? Or should I just stay away?

Honestly, I keep hemming and hawing about even posting this question since my funds are being saved up for an SA Shotgun and a Carbine now. But I'm worried about missing a good deal. That being said, I don't know what a good deal is...

You can get one new for about 400-450. Depending on the trigger and sight that's another 200 plus 50 in the two extra mags. If the XD fits your hand I would say its a pretty good deal.

Smith and Wesson M&P's start at that price also. Not sure if you've looked into that. The xd's have a higher bore axis. I've never noticed it in the recoil, but the slide seems like it's way taller than my Glock or the M&P I used to have. I also previously owned two different XDM's. It's really just whatever you like. Find one you can jive with and shoot the piss out of it and it will hang with any other pistol of it's type. Good luck.

On a side note I had to try all the different polymer guns a couple times before landing with Glock. Which is why I have owned all the ones previously mentioned.

I shot an XDM 9 with stock trigger and upgrades sights my first year of competition. I shot a Glock and an M&P way better and then I made the switch to a 2011 and wished I would have saved all that money I wasted on the plastic guns and bought the 2011 straight away.

It's not a good enough deal to buy it IMHO.

2011's are way too rich for my blood so I went with the M&P pro and am very happy with it. I've shot XD's and xdm's before, they're just not for me.
