WTS LNIB AR15 Upper $400

It's hard to tell from the pics, JT, but is the bolt in battery? Cuz it looks like the carrier traveled to the rear. Not trying to diagnose the problem, just trying to wrap my head around the result. It looks like a soup sandwich.

That was a wicked Kaboom! I didn't hear anything unusual. Just Jesse saying few choice words all of a sudden. I look over and he had the craziest look on his face. I thought someone had AD'd one into his leg or something. Then I realize it was his own rifle that blew up. Crazy stuff!!

Damn. I'm an ass. If its okay with you Jesse, I'd like to back out of the deal...

Any salvageable parts on it?

I left it with Kurt and the guys for a full dark brew lab analysis. I thunk the bolt was still in battery but the carrier was back farther than it should be. The bottom if the carrier was blown completely off. The rear takedown pin tab was blown off the upper. My scope, still in the LaRue mount, still latched to picatinny rail was blown 5-8 feet down range.

I did have a click with no bang on the round prior. For some reason it felt like or I figured I was out of ammo. I dropped the mag and refilled it, them racked the charging handle. I thought I saw a live round fly out so I tried to lay down another Alpha and BOOM. All I felt was a big woosh of air thump my in the face and I realized that my gun may have just elephant dung the bed. Once that concusion hit me I closed my eyes and for some reason tossed the gun and started hoping I could see when I opened my eyes. It definitely made Kurts class one I never will forget.

Welcome to the club Jesse The Kaboom club.

Jesus! The one flipping time you're not filming yourself shoot, something splodes! That could have been youtube gold

That video would be awesome! Especially a hat cam. Maybe we can recreate it? I think the tube portion of the handcuffs, gas block, comp, complete lower and my underwear are all salvageable. I used some Shout on them and run them threw the soiled cycle twice

Damn dude! Glad your ok. What about those glasses you were wearing? I might want to get some real ones now.
Were there any scratches on the lenses?

Can't believe a baby 223 can do that wouldnt be so surprising if it was 7.62. Glad u are ok, I know where you can get a reliable AK 47

Jesse, sure glad you (and those nearby you) are ok, that's gotta be freaky! Is the scope fine?

And what did your wife say when she heard your gun blew up?

The scope looked to be fine. It blew off the rail with the mount. Other than being tossed about 7 or 8 feet and landing in the red dirt...

Thanks man! Im not hurt buy I will never be "OK". :) I'm heading to the range early today to see if I can get the scope/mount to zero. Everything looks OK but you never know until u try.

Wooo Hooo! Does that mean your gonna quit shooting?

Glasses are perfect. They were brand new too. First time I wore them to the range. I don't think that anything other than hot gas hit them. My face only had two small spots where I bled briefly. Neither abrasion was even as bad as a cut from shaving really. My eyes definately took some powder/gas near them because it took 5 minutes to get the crust out this morning before I could open then. I don't want to think about what might have happened if I had been wearing my little designer prescription glasses like I used to. Those glass sit way off my face and are tiny.

You crap me up JP. I am going to have to buy am AK74 again so I can run it in 3 gun in your honor. Of course I would shoot everything including the long range from the hip while making that wired tongue flapping screaming noise that Taymoor does when he goes back to the motherland to shoot with his homies.

You clearly haven't seen the video on my facebook. I choose AMERICA!

Jesse, you owe me an hour of my life. Last night I spent at least that long trying to find anybody else that shaved the bottom of their BCG, and looking for an upper that came apart for easier cleaning.

Here are a couple more pics from the accident scene that will help give you a better perspective on the force of the explosion and just how lucky our buddy Jesse is to walk away with just a few minor scratches. The first pic is Jesse's $2,200 Swarovski scope in a Larue mount with the upper rail of the upper receiver still attached. The second pic is a Magpul magazine with the window blown out.

This is definitely a day at the range that I will never forget and luckily no one was seriously injured. Thanks for the piece of your JP rifle that is stuck in my back. I will wear it proudly.

James
