Officially bit by the 3-gun bug, watched the match at OKCGC today to get some info and ideas. Main thing I need right now is a shotgun. Leaning towards picking up a Stoeger M3000 to get me started, but if I got a good deal on a Benelli or Franchi I would take it. Let me know if you have one your wanting to sell or if you happen to see a good deal anywhere. Also need shotgun caddies, I like the magnetic ones Tony has at Make Ready but if someone had a backup set of some-sort they want to sell cheaper I would consider it. Thanks.

I procured an M1, zero regrets. It's unstoppable in 3 gun and it's a duck and dove death dealer. Throw a C Rums welded lifter and a Nordic extension on and you're good to go.

Edit: maybe some Velcro above the forend on the barrel helps keep heat off your hands and the person's hands that get the SG out of the barrel for you.

The stoeger is a great gun. My wife kicks ass with hers. However Don't make the same mistake most of us did and go cheap with you're shot gun. To me it is the most important gun in the 3 gun world. Hell you have to load that thing more than your pistol or rifle. I started by waisting my money on a Mossberg 930. Big mistake as my wife had to one up me by buying a M3000. So shot it a few times ( with out her knowing ) and I kicked ass with it. Then with the pressure from a few boomer shooters I saved for an M2.... And well my shotgun life got a lot better and my shoulder feels a lot better. Sooo the moral of this post is don't f around and waste your money just get an M2 and contact Accurate Iron and you will not regret it. That me and the thousands of others that make the mistake of going cheap.

Damn you guys don't make it easy to shoot on a budget. Appreciate the input though, maybe I'll just borrow a shotgun for a couple months and save up for an M1/M2. Any big differences between the two?

The M1 is heavier than the M2 and doesn't have a comfort tech stock, extra chokes, or a shim kit to adjust the stock, however, the M1 can be found in the $650 range if you look hard enough.

Both are great shotguns for the sport.

If going for an M1, get the M1 S90 with vent rib barrel.
If going for the M2, get the field model with vent rib barrel.

Thanks for the info, good to know. Found a M2 21" no upgrades for $850 in tulsa, should I jump on that? had been thinking I want a 24" or 26" barrel but the price seems pretty good

You can get an M2 American (no shims or comfort tech) with 26" barrel for $850-900
I use the 26" M2 American and really don't feel the need for the comfort tech stock.

It is the comfort tech stock one with vent rib barrel, just can't decide if I should settle for a 21" or wait for the 26"

I never bothered to change from the 28 on my M1 it downs steel like a bulldozer and the longer sight radius is a plus. I've never felt handicapped due to its length. Plus my extension ends less than a half inch from the barrel. Like Matt said it's going to be debated until a lobbyist buys out one side...
