WTB: M&P 15-22 MOE FDE .22 in the Upstate

I was wondering if anyone happens to have this weapon or know of any shops in the upstate that would be selling these? I'm wanting to get one for $485-$500. Any tips or leads would be awesome!

ive never shot one but i think you would be better off getting an AR lower and the deticated 22 upper, 1/16 twist 22. my upper was only $365. it works great on my select fire lower and my SBR lower. you can build a lower with a moe stock for$280 and then have a place for other uppers. why pay that much for only 22?

One thing I do know about it, the trigger guard is built into the receiver and is curved, so a Slide Fire stock won't fit without modding the stock. Personally, I would NOT mod a Slide Fire stock due to the touchy subject of the BATFE letter that comes with it. And if I did get a 22LR AR, I would definitely want a Slide Fire!

at one time i saw the CMMG 22 complete upper at Academy for 379.

i got mine at Palmetto Shooters supply for 369. Bob at Upstate Armory might have them.

when PSA has a sale you can get a lower for about 50 bucks, a lower parts kit for , mine was , 52 and i got a moe stock set, everything for putting a stock on the reciever for 79.

they have 223 uppers STARTING at 399. these prices are at their sales and were last year.

so 80 and 50 and 52 and 369 equals 650 plus tax and plus mags for about 17 each. bet they will give you one if you buy all that. one may come with the upper, i forget.

that way you have a 16/ 1 twist barrel for 22s and a platform for a 223, 9mm or 300 or 762x39 or even 50 bmg not just a seperate 22 rifle.

Try Dick's Sporting Goods in the Shoppes at Gridlock on Woodruff Rd. I'm sure they have a 15-22 for $4-something. Academy is also on Woodruff.

but you will also need an optic (42 bucks at walmart ) or sights, if you get the picanany rail upper.

a seperate gun is great but i have a Ruger 10-22 i havent shot in years because i got a 22 upper for my ARs

I weighed the pros and cons and I decided to go with the dedicated plinker. I'm not going to be switching out uppers as much as I think and if I want to shoot 5.56, I will buy a dedicated weapon for it. I found a 15-22 MOE Black for $509 out of the door which is a steal for that price. It's a really light weapon and the only additional modification that I want to do is to purchase a metal charging handle. I also picked up 3 mags, Aimpoint clone red dot, and a swinging plinking target. I'm real excited about it!

Congratulations, Dave! 22LR is lots of fun, and what you save on ammo will pay for the gun. There are lots of cool target options for 22, like the orange self-healing balls and the "walking" target - 4 legs with a target on each foot. Ammo: each gun is different, but I and others have had good luck with the Remington Golden Bullet, 525 round box for $18 at Academy.

Thanks man! I have a 10/22 and I like it but this is an awesome tactical looking option! I was going to try and run some bulk Federal through it since it's what I have. A lot of people say that is fine and I will probably pick up some of the stuff you mentioned afterwards!

I have had some bad luck recently with the bulk Golden Bullet from Remington. Put 200 rounds through my 15-22 one day at the range and had 6 FTF and one FTE with them.

Put some CCI ammo through it the other day and had ZERO FTF or FTE in about 250 rounds. I think it's rifle dependent on the bulk .22LR ammo, especially with these rifles.

So shoot what you can, and stick with what works. It's cheap enough that you can experiment with it and find out what your rifle likes.

By the way, the JP Power yellow FCG springs make a WORLD of difference on the trigger if you don't want to spend the $$ on a trigger group. I got the springs for $12 shipped from Brownells. Haven't measured the pull, but it's way better than stock.
