Anyone else work nights and find it VERY difficult to go to sleep on your nights off? I'm tired, but not sleepy. If I go lay in bed, I'll just lay there eyes open wide awake. I'll be glad when I get back to day shift.....:rolleyes:

I know how you feel, I got suckered into working night shift once, it was supposed to be temporary, that came with a $3.00 pay raise and the Night Store Manager position. Well it lasted 3 years, on off nights, I was wide awake all night and still slept during the day. I would never take another night position.

i really like actually working nights, but it really does mess up your schedule. at my job, we work 16 weeks nights and 16 weeks days, and so on. only a few more weeks and then it's back to normal!

When I was stationed at Tinker with the 2854SPS I first started out on Swings/Mids... 3 days of swing shift then 3 days of mid shift with three days off after. Sucked. When the chance came to move to permanent day shift I took it. After I got out of the service I worked normal daylight hours for 14 years until I got into trucking which required driving through the night a few times.

I just started working nights in November. 12 hour nights in fact. I volunteered for it so that I could have my weekends back.
Where I work, the day shift has to work every other weekend. Night shift is Mon thru Thurs.

But yeah, hard to sleep on my nights off. I was up till 4am last night working on my website and taxes. I had to set an alarm for today just so I wouldn't sleep the day away.

yeah, we do 12 hour shifts also. i like it a lot better. every other week i get 4 days off in a row and the other weeks are 3 days off. i'll never go back to 5 days a week again (well, not by my choosing anyway!)
