Well, here it is. My (short) awaited WW VEX-SS. Overall, good impression out of the box. The obvious upgrades and additions include the Magpul PRS, Diamondhead ISS BUIS, SWFS SS 10x42 glass and the Harris bipod, complete with Afghani grit. It came with the rail risers, Houge grip and an Ace LTD skeleton stock (which is for sale, btw). Same profile rail gas block is nice, although I'm now having to return and exchange BUIS.

What I'm not too thrilled about - The trigger is a good old USGI stock trigger, a gritty, long take-up (or is that two stage??) sloppy slop. Bad enough I made a couple passes on a stone without a fixture to dress it up. You'd think they would invest a bit more in that category for the price point (List $1295). I was aware that it would be lacking from other reviews I had checked out, so plans for a JP setup are still a go.

BCG - The gas key doesn't look as well staked as I would expect. I don't know what Mil-Spec defines, but I would imagine a staking dimple driven into both key and hex bolt material as standard, as opposed to a side stake that pushes the key metal against the bolts. Also, every other BGC that I saw on the WW website was a full lug M16 carrier. This is not, just a standard commercial AR15 carrier...Sad face...I will be replacing that with the proper carrier, just so I can dream about being auto cool.

Upper and lower seem to not be as tight as my other rifles. Maybe I'm looking into to it too much, knit picking. Otherwise they are a good to go Cerro Forged keyhole marker upper and lower. The barrel is marked .223 1-8, but WW has published that it is a Compass Lake chamber and matched bolt, so 5.56 is fine to shoot, should we ever have to do a live documentary of Red Dawn.

So, pretty snazzy rifle, I'd say. I have some 77gr Bergers loaded up, ready to see what happens. I'll post some drool pics before long.

Cheers.
