Why no IDPA?

The IDPA crowd is no different than any other in the shooting community. If you show up to play and you don't have everything you need, 99.9% of the time, there is someone there more than willing to loan you whatever you need.

It ain't rocket science.......
 
Besides, if you don't have the right clothes, you can still pay to shoot the match and they won't count your scores. So at least you know you can still shoot if you're wardrobe is not officially approved by the governing body of IDPA.
 
With either sport you're going to have to buy gear. The gear actually ends up being the cheap part.

Glocks and the like are perfectly capable of winning USPSA nationals in any division they fit into. You do not absolutley need a race rig.

As long as the garment covers the gun when the arms are lifted its ok

The holster can't have a offset,,,, and holsters and mags can't be ahead of centerline.

If you don't want to shoot IDPA don't..... But you don't need to represent any game that doesn't require spandex, skinny jeans and Elvis shades.....
 
I thought you had to have special holsters and what not for USPSA? Something about the gun being a certain distance from your body etc? I have an m&p 9c and carry using an IWB hybrid holster. I didn't know the round counts where high for IDPA, the stuff I saw made it look like it was supposed to simulate real carry situations(I don't know anyone who carries more than maybe an extra mag or two, if any at all.) I know folks will loan me their equipment, and for the first few matches I show up to, that seems polite, but after several matches, I just seem like a mooch. Or at least would feel like one. Sounds like USPSA isn't as intimidating as it sounded.
 
No special holster required for USPSA. Take whatever you have as long as it's safe. USPSA is way more fun. IDPA only simulates real carry situations if you have a gunfight with 9 people in walmart while wearing your Glock 34 OWB and 10 round mags and weighted photography vest with patches all over it and you don't want to have to buy any more mags after the gunfight. They frown on things like, I don't know, using your Kahr P9 in an IWB holster and a t-shirt as a concealment garment. Something about "we don't recommend" and "unsafe".

Any holster that carries the gun with the butt above the top of the belt and places the grip no more than 2" from the inside of the belt is good to go. Bladetech DOH notwithstanding you actually have to work at finding a holster that does not meet these requirements.

IDPA does not in any way shape or form resemble concealed carry, It's a game, just like USPSA. At least with USPSA you will be able to shoot the gun you carry loaded up like you were carrying it and drawing from the holster you carry it in. All you need magazine wise for USPSA is a way to carry 40 rounds on you.

Exactly. They are all shooting sports. I don't understand the reasoning why somebody would diss the other sport? It doesn't make sense?
We shoot.
One likes to shoot Hi-Power rifle, another wants to shoot ICORE, another shoots USPSA.

What the ****? Who give a rats ass what the other guy shoots? We are all shooters and love the sport of shooting!

If you don't like the precision of 1000 yd matches, don't shoot it!

If you like steel challenge, and don't want to tape USPSA, don't shoot it!

Division in the sport is what makes us SMALL in the sports world.

Take a guy like Ray Scott that took all of the small bass fishing tourney groups into the world wide organization of BASS, (Bass anglers sportsman's society) that it is today and the shooting sports will be HUGE.

I'm personally disgusted by those in one discipline that disrespects another one.

Lets get onboard of shooting in general, and support each and every one of them.

That's the only way this sport is going to thrive, and grow.

Don't forget that you can shoot like you would in real life too. Reloads with retention my ass! I'm dumping the empties, reloading and going back to shooting or getting the hell outta dodge. The hell with the brass. Shooting on the move? :onthequiet:
 
I agree. It's all shooting. That said, if I can show up with my 6" GP100 at a uspsa match and have fun, it can't be hard. Haha. Next uspsa match that's close enough you want to go to Jon, holler and we'll head out.

I have the opposite problem, my 625 is legal in IDPA, but revolvers don't come with holsters or mag pouches like some semis, so I got online and bought a holster and loader holders that would work for steel and uspsa, since those matches looked easier to find in okc. So, I don't have any idpa legal gear. Haha.

Oh and what Scott said. If I'm being fired upon, I'm not going to worry about my mags or moons hitting the ground during a reload. Lol. I'm getting out of the situation as fast as I can. Haha. Idpa does look fun too, though.
