I'm a new member to the forum but have been reading on here for several months. I am not quite broke yet but i could use a little help... I just ordered a new gun to play with and modify to compete in limited. it is a new rock Island that aims to be a budget friendly, entry level, limited gun. Model # 51738 it has several good features but needs some tweaking. long story short it accepts para style mags and the only versions available at this time are the mec-gars. The mag bodies on these are too short to seat properly. There is a conversion mag catch that will allow the use of sti mags and I would like to go that way. However I would like to try one in the gun first before I go spending $100+ each on mags and extensions that I'm not sure will work.

You should check the thread on these guns on Enos forum. If you need a test mag bring the gun to a match that I'll be at and you can try one of mine.

Thanks for offering to help me out! I'v been reading all the info I can, and have read a few threads on there regarding these guns. I think that Enos is where I found out about the mag issue. I have two single stack ria pistols in .45 that are super reliable! My first has over 10,000 rds thru it with barely a hiccup! I saw this new model and hopped on it... I know it's no STI but I'm trying to keep this "lower" budget. If I'm still trying to figure it out by the next match I'll give u a shout! I sent Wall a message and he said he'd hook me up with a mag to try as well. If they work I'm gonna buy mags and extensions from him and start gearing up for limited.

Not broke but just spent a ton of money. I need cheap .40cal 180gr RNFP's (copper plated or hytech coated) for load workup - Don't need a ton, 20 of whatever you have would work. I've got some xtreme bullets 180gr plated so that's off the list.

Bullets I'd like to try:

BBI
SNS
Bayou
(insert your pet manufacturer)
