Which PCC to buy you ask?

There are subtle advantages such as a smaller ejection port & lack of gas tube hole. These are places that won't be open to let trash come into the receivers, but it's not a must. Most 9mm receivers will be billet & styled better than a regular forged milspec receiver. In the case of the QC10 you mentioned, it is built (styled) to match the lower better than a 223 upper receiver.
So it also shaves weight to use a standard upper.

Yep, a slight amount. I could weigh them to see the the difference. But I'll take the durability over a slight bit of weight savings. There are plenty of other places you can remove weight if that's something you're chasing.

I was just being a smartass.

Thanks to all who have chimed in with information.

Next question, internals.

I see lots of options on internal components and I'm struggling on which way to go here. JP is obviously one of the "top of the line" options. I see several other seemingly good options as well. Just looking at the offerings from Make Ready Pro you find JP and KVP components. The JP branded bolt is $100 more than the KVP bolt. Has anyone tried both? I've also heard good things locally about CMMG. I'm not looking for the cheapest path. I'm just wondering what makes one bolt or barrel $100 better than the next.

Several of you guys have been running PCC for a while now. What is working for you? What isn't? What would you change if you built another PCC gun?

I don't know anything about cmmg 9mm stuff but it's been around awhile. I don't even know who kvp is??

I would love to find a bolt that works with my AR gold triggers. JP bolts do not. Cocking line is too high or some elephant dung. I've always dreamed a woman would tell me that but isnstead it was Chris from American Trigger.

I use a CMMG bolt and a drop in Black Rain 3.5 trigger without issues. I don't know if it's just a JP bolt having slightly different machining, or that I use a colt pattern mag instead of Glock?
I didn't know anything about aftermarket triggers causing problems until I talked to Jesse at the last match.

Can you use cmmg bolts with Glock mags too?

You can, but you have to narrow the bottom edge because the Glock mag has a thinner slot for the bolt to travel through to pick up the next round.

They don't have two different versions?

Does anyone make a good bolt for use with Glocks?

I think the Bizon is the way to go. Someone needs to make it PCC compliant with a 16" barrel (7 more inches) and a mag that is 7 inches longer that can hold 128 rounds.

Yeah, for some reason the bottom of the PCC bolts aren't as low as a normal bolt carrier. The bolt won't always push the hammer down far enough to engage the disconnector if the trigger is held back. It happened on my Colt build and my JP Glock build.

Geissele 3g trigger wouldn't work, Timney AR comp would,JP would.

I haven't researched the Glock mag bolts. I had my PCC built before it became a division in USPSA so I was just building a fun suppressor host.

I have both the CMMG/Colt mag/Hahn block setup and for my PCC gun I went with a QC10 lower, std. mil-spec upper with JP barrel and bolt. I got a DPMS LPK less fire control bundled with a Geissele trigger during Christmas sales at a good price. Shoulda went JP on the trigger too since I have a kick ass single shot PCC gun now. I'm debating on whether to just get a JP trigger from Tony but in all reality at the ranges for USPSA I'm just leaning on swapping the Geissele into my 3G rifle and putting the mil-spec CMMG trigger it has in the QC10 lower. It's nickel boron coated and is actually not a bad trigger with the JP springs. I think I'll pull it apart tomorrow and see if I can run a tap through the QC10 lower for the set screw trick. If I can I'll just swap them out.

You can be PCC compliant with an SBR. Mine has a 7" barrel.

It's not going to change anything.
A blowback bolt geometry is different than a DI bolt.
The fancy triggers have material cut away from the top/face that the ramp on the blowback bolts don't reach down far enough to reset.
You can add a small weld to either the bottom of the bolt or the face of the hammer to get it to reset.

The CMMG bolt that Matt is talking about has to have the disconnect rail (that strips the next round from the mag) milled thinner to fit between the feed lips. You can use a bolt set up for glock mags in a colt pattern lower but you cant use a bolt set up for colt mags in a glock pattern lower.

Why don't you drive up to guthrie with an extra JP bolt this weekend and we can pull out the MIG welder and see if we can't get my AR Gold running in my JP. I'll make it worth your time with beer and sloppy sex.
