So, to lighten the mood a little, where have you been stationed over your career and where did you like best? Non-military can play too, seems most anyone you meet these days is from somewhere else.
I'm from Amarillo, TX but the Army has taken me to Ft Polk; Schweinfurt, Germany; Ft Sill,OK; first trip to Iraq; Schofield Barracks, HI; then as a recruiter to Valdosta, Ga. TX Army Natl Guard in Dallas witha trip to Iraq, then SC Army Natioal Guard here in Summerville, and finally the Army Reserves in Oangeburg...still live in Summerville though. Worst posting was Ft Polk, best is a tie between Hawaii and Germany.

1989 - 1993. Norfolk, Virginia. Made some good friens there, & really enjoyed Langley Speedway stock car races on Saturday night.

I am a Navy Brat, born and raised.

I started in Indiana where I was born and then moved to Virginia Beach, VA.

Then on to Satellite Beach, FL

Then we trucked over to San Francisco, CA

Flew over the big water to Guam. Probably one of the coolest place I've been. Four pound toads, Coral snakes, reef sharks, star apples, coconuts, bananas, jungle, and year round SCUBA in crystal blue water! A 12 year old's wet dream.

Headed back to the states and landed in Bremerton, WA.

Went back over to Crothersville, IN to see the relatives for awhile before heading to Charleston, SC Where I finished school, got married, had a kid, and a career.

Ft. Benning, Iraq (All over Baghdad and An Nasiriyah), Ft. Hood, and finally, Ft. Jackson, where I reached the culmination of my career cut short by an injury and an Army unwilling to pick up the pieces. Sorry to crap on the mood lightening thread..the realization that I am out of the military after nearly a decade hasn't sunk in...the Army was "who" I was.

I did do a week TDY in Hawaii. It was awesome but 10 hour flight one way....the Caribbean is closer! Seeing Pearl Harbor in person was worth the whole trip.

I was stationed at Charleston for active duty; Seymour Johnson in NC for 1 year of reserves and then back to Charleston for the rest. Sounds boring, but I was a flight mechanic, so I got to go TDY a LOT. My last full year, 1998, I spent over 280 days gone.

I've been to a lot of places, but only seen the airfield, fuel truck, and maybe the pax terminal food court. While neat, I have a hard time counting those places.

Places I've spent time: Germany, England, Japan, Thailand, Bosnia, Sicily, Spain, El Salvador. Spent quite a bit of time at Elmendorf AFB AK, Travis AFB CA, Dover AFB DE, Edwards AB CA, and Cape Canaveral.

As a civilian, I've spent a good bit of time in Greece, Germany, and Japan.

NAS Pensacola, NAS Norfolk, Sigonella Sicily (Traveled TAD to Spain, France, Italy and Egypt, underway in the Mediterranean, North Atlantic, Aegean Sea and the Black Sea), NAS Oceana, NAB Little Creek, NAS Miramar

Forbes AFB KS, Luke AFB AZ, Kadena AB Japan, Clark AB Philippines, Wright-Patterson AFB OH, Keesler AFB MS, Kirtland AFB NM, Randolph AFB TX (twice), Kunsan AB Korea - active military.

Dobbins ARB GA, Ft McPherson GA, Ft Jackson SC, Ft Stewart GA - DoD civilian.
