Went to check on my wheat fields last night. First two fields are about 5' under water from the floods in grant county, and couldn't get within 2 miles of the other field as water had the road blocked. I suspect it's underwater as well.

Sorry to hear that Dennis! Last year was the drought, now its the floods! Ahhh gotta love Oklahoma.

Unfortunately after the drought last year, the cost of insurance wasn't an option. A couple of other quarters that weren't flooded will help alleviate the loss.

Dennis,
Sorry for the loss. It's not much better here, but iit's not the rain. The hail from about 3 weeks ago made for 2 fields(about 400 acres total) become hay.

That sucks... cut the losses throw in some fish and go fishing!

draught, Bugs, floods...what's next in this great state?

Cutting a couple of quarters. Started with a test cut on Saturday, that got 63.0 lbs per bushel. First truck load today checked in a US#1 with 64.5 lbs per bushel. I don't know how it goes around anywhere else, but in my neck of the woods, that is like shooting a perfect hose down with all A's :D

It will help offset the flooded fields.\ that were lost.

We started cutting last Wednesday. We have probably 150 cut, just another 3,700 acres to go. I don't know what the yields are going to be like, but I think they're going to be good. The test weight is around 61# which pretty average. The moisture was 13.7 when we started and it was down to 10.8 by Saturday. The rains will have us shut down for a few days.

Its funny because in all three of those pictures, its like the worst wheat we've cut so far. Its laying down in the first pic and there's a lot of weeds in the other two. lol. I'll probably post some 'better' ones later this week once we're going again.

yeah, we won't know yields until its all cut. Its looking good though.

I will say, that in all of my years, and the wife's uncle that is sharing in the cutting,(87yrs old) this is the earliest any of us has seen a wheat harvest.

Do you think that it has something to do with the warmer than usual winter and spring?
