What do you think is faster?

I tried something last weekend and that was to just shoot "A's" trying to figure out if it was any faster not as a saving ammo thing, bit me in the ass on one target as I got a failure to neutralize #*^$&(%*$ but all in all it seemed to be a little quicker it seemed. So all you fella's that have been doing this longer than my 2 matches what are your thoughts? shoot one round and hit "A's" or hose with double taps and just get 2 bullets in the target? Later,

Depends on the stage, but most of the time 1 A is a bad idea.

If it saves a stationary reload it may become more worthwhile.

The only time I shoot 1 A instead of 2 A's is when the target is 5 yards or less for a wide open body shot that I can essentially point shoot. I will typically only shoot one head shot inside 15 yards as well since I know I have to aim hard on that first shot anyways.

When I double tap I always aim for an A in both sight pictures though.

I don't think aiming for 'A's only' is any faster for the most part. Certain stages or certain parts of a stage yeah maybe, but that's up to the individual shooter and his/her equipment to dictate that strategy. It doesn't behoove me to try that... Most of the time......

There are very few matches that use USPSA hit factor scoring for Multi gun. In fact uspsa now has a time plus scoring option available as an alternative to the hit factor scoring. At last weekends uspsa Multi gun nationals president Mike Voigt said that the board of directors will be looming at another revision to the rules this winter. One can only hope that they adopt the IMGA two hits anywhere or 1 A to neutralize type scoring.

IDPA 3 gun has little to no following at this point. In fact I haven't hear of any matches thus far.

Interesting! Thanks for the update.
I looked at the IDPA 3 gun and decided not to fool with 3 guns for so little shooting.
We're doing IDPA pistol once a month at ITPSC.

Would be nice to have simple standard rules for 3 gun without adding more organizations, wouldn't it?
Seems like somebody shows up every month with a hot idea for another type of new match.....

Through practice I've found I'm not any faster if I hose a target or aim at the target. My finger only goes so fast.... with that said, 10 yards would be max for me to take a single A zone shot and that is dictated by ammo capacity

Tried it this last match and it was not the fastest for me, taget distance is important and round count enters into it a little. Here is where a timer for practice would be extremely informative :) I think i will buy one now, ANY RECOMENDATIONS HERE

It's all trigger time learning to watch that sight bounce up and down. U gotta get a feel for what it is that you need to see as an except able sight picture to make those A hits.

On the rifle El prez last weekend I was beaten handily by people who only shot 1 a zone, and I was running the trigger as fast as I could. I also watched people earn 10 second FTN's on stage 4 trying to save a reload.

Short story, it depends.

Good points guys! thanks a mess. I do need more trigger time for sure or I'm going on auto pilot and my brain takes over cause I can recall seeing my pistol sights maybe 3 or 4 times last weekend and coming from the LR game this run and gun is being tricky to figure out. I know I have a long way to go for sure, I need to get more faith in the knee that it's gonna hold up so I can speed up transitioning from target to target.

Again fella's thanks for the thoughts and opinions. Later,

Kirk
