What did you buy yourself today (Photo Thread)...

I guess this going to have to be done in a form 1. One of the requirement on the form is overall length of the riffle and barrel length. Is easy to figure length if an AR with some math by taking OAL of barrel rifle minus the difference of barrel length. Say you have a 16" barrel on a riffle that's 30" and you are installing a 10" barreled upper subtract 6" from the 30" and new OAL is 24". For your build though you'll be adding length of stock plus length of your pistol from the back to the end of the barrel not the flash unless it's pinned and welded.

That's what I've learned today while sitting up my trust and preparing a Form 1 for my SBR AR. Glad to help.

Oh yea and to stay true to this thread I bought a new HP laptop today.

when i did my form 1 SBR i was told to send a seperate page with any bbl lengths with oal too.

i only had 1 upper to be cut at 11.5 but i made this list. they didnt know i had not bought the others yet, or care.

11.5 inch bbl / oal ??? 5.56 cal (i forget)
10.5 inch bbl / oal ??? 5.56 cal
5.5 inch bbl / oal ??? 22 cal
10.5 inch bbl / oal ??? 9mm

they said if i want a different one to add it to the list and send them a copy.

i dont understand this.

dont pistol buffers come in only a couple of lengths? length of stock? length of pistol? measure a stock and pistol tube then subtract.

Fox I can help with measuring the 51 with a stock installed for your F1 submittal if you want actual measurements.
Busy this weekend but free after that.

OH what did I buy today content - ARFCOM billet upper and lower. Sorry I don't have pic's tho.

I was saying for Foxs build build he'd have to add the length of the stock to the pistol to get his OAL but because of a typo I omitted the words "yours" meaning his build from the sentence. In another post I remember Fox said he was going to put the fixed style HK stock so no buffer tube.

Fox I do look forward to seeing it put together too. I was on HK parts and they make it seem as if the collapsible stock won't fit the PTR PDW.

Tiger I think I see what your saying about the buffer tube. Since the flash hider I not permanently attached unless pinned and welded it's considered temporary. Technically the collapsible stock isn't permanent either because it's easily removable so are you saying OAL should be measure tip of barrel to end of buffer tube? Maybe I'm reading to deep into your question. This will be a good question for my lawyer.

Clicker - If you could get me the length of your stock that would be great. I have looked high and low on the internet for the measurements with no luck.

Gamecock24 - I'm still on the fence about which stock to get but I am leaning heavily towards the fixed. HKParts.net has two stocks specifically made for the PDW one fixed and one collapsible. I've heard the collapsible is murder on the shoulder plus its twice as much.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm planning on heading up the Sheriffs Office next week for finger prints and to drop the form 1 off for his John Hancock.

My AR's SBR form 1 says it has a 4" barrel and a 19" OAL. I can basically do anything I want to do with it. (It has a 9" 300blk upper and a 10.5" 5.56 upper)

Robert Merting did my trust, he's great. http://rkmerting.com/

The collapsible is know as a meat tenderizer for a reason.

Robert Merting did my trust as well.

Fix another form you should fill out is call a Certification of Compliance, aft form 5330-20. It basically states you are a legal US citizen. I read some say you need to submit it and others say it doesn't matter. I went a head and filled one out just I'm case because it's just one more sheet of paper. Better safe than sorry. Oh and make sure you print your two copies of form 1 double sided or it will be rejected. That it's bit is buried in the instruction somewhere on the form.

Who can tell me about having it engraved? Where to take it to have engraved? Under ATF rules engraving is considered gunsmithing so that eliminates dropping it off at a trophy shop bc they would not have a FFL.

I leave 4h blank but engrave the SBR with my trust name & City, State. I used Ident Marking to do mine. http://identmarking.com/index.php/sbr-logo-engraving

Props to someone who can identify what this is - you're a true cruffler.

Whole rifle listed as Good - Incomplete. Missing the magazine spring... apparently worth $100 to Century as that was the price difference between this and a Good-Complete one.

Got the folks at Surplusrifle.com working on ID'ing more than just the manufacturer and year.

Mike, is that an old Mauser variant?

Also was in Innovative Arms the other day dropping off my bolt action .223 to get he barrel threaded and to pick up some QD mounts for my Rem 700 .308 and AR 5.56 compatible with the quick attach .30 cal suppressor I'm hoping to get the stamp for sooner rather than later. It's got to get the core welded in place and the finish baked on but once I take possession I'll be the first customer to buy and own a QD can from them...previously their lines have been thread on (which are awesome...speaking from experience).

Since I'm not shooting SBRs, flash hider mounts versus brakes were preferable. Also, compared it to an AAC Blackout 51T mount and the Innovative FH has ZERO tuning fork ping. It's also much shorter so as not to consume the whole blast baffle chamber which allows the internal volume be utilized for expansion.

Anyhow...pics:

A pic of the thread on equivalent... Got to shoot it with some .308 subs (170gr soft points and 10.5gr Trailboss) and it was more quiet than a suppressed 9mm pistol.

Close up of FH; there are more "coarse" threads that actually hold the can on than AACs mount and I think he said 144 teeth used to prevent rotation once mounted. She just slides right on and locks up tight.

I was in there when his advertising products guy showed up...Phillip tossed me a T-shirt and one for my wife...they run a great shop...real down to earth people and I'm glad their business is doing well.

1938 ERMA (Erfurtwerke) K98k Mauser.

Balkan capture - not a Russian capture. Distinctive pings over the swastikas but the majority of other markings intact. All matching except bolt, which matches to itself, and stock which is correct for period but non-matching serial number.

Need to check headspace and scrub/steam the stock, find a bayonet for a reasonable price and repro sling and cleaning rod. Otherwise in really nice condition - the pic makes it look more beat up than it is.

Sent that Glock certificate off on 4/21.

Glock lady called on Monday for payment for my "upgrade." She said it would be 3-5 weeks before I saw the pistol......it came today.

It's so damn new, the spent casing has a date on it of 5/4/14......WOW.

My new Spikes receiver.

And build kit with misc parts.

Now to get it together and slap that new upper on it. The bolt should come tomorrow. Here it is all put together.

Gamecock I like the way that AR looks. Very Nice.

I picked up this in a trade today. Springfield Loaded MC Operator with a muzzle brake, Chip McCormick 10 round mag and a Streamlight TLR-4.
