I have always thought it was strange that military personnel aren't armed at all times. If you are in uniform you should have [at least] a sidearm on you at all times. YOU ARE THE MILITARY, AFTER ALL!

As for civilians on base, not sure about that, but soldiers, definitely.

One problem with our military, is that it has just become a job corps, not soldiers. I understand that they need clerical support, etc but those people should be trained soldiers also. ARM THEM!

Signed and shared, hope this thing goes viral.

I hate that I can't carry on base. It's also the main reason we don't use the commisary or BX as much as much. I'd be happy if I could least have a gun in my truck.

All of the victims were civilians.
But to add to your comments, its not the first time that military personnel have been left unarmed in harms way.

October 23, 1983 - 241 U.S. service personnel, 220 Marines and 21 other service personnel, are killed by a truck bomb at a Marine compound in Beirut, Lebanon.

There were minimal barriers at the main gate, as commanders didn't want the perception of a heavily guarded compound. (WTF??)

The guards at the gate were only allowed to have ammo in their pouches, with weapons unloaded.

When I was stationed at Ft. Cambell KY in the 70's, we were assigned night time guard duty at the artillery nuclear warhead storage facility.
We were issued 3 rounds. Magazine loaded, chamber empty.

Military bases were declared gun free zones by Bill Clinton in 1993. He couldn't make the nation a gun free zone, but as the POTUS, he can by God make the Military bases gun free zones as the Commander in Chief.

What a POS!
