We need to get more kids "in" to the outdoors.

Most of us recall with fondness our younger days of exploring woods and streams, hunting and fishing and just playing outdoors. Today’s youth are more apt to be found inside. If we as outdoor enthusiasts don't pass on our traditions, who will?

Central Oklahoma Quail Forever is hosting its Fourth Annual Bobwhite Scramble on April 28 at River Oaks Golf Club. This charity golf tournament raises money that supports our youth programs and activities. We host annual youth events (free to participants) in order to get more kids off the couch and IN to the Outdoors. Please help us spread the word about this worthwhile charity event - we are still accepting sponsor and player registration on our website, www.BobwhiteScramble.com. Player entry fees include golf, cart, range balls, dinner after the tournament, and FREE DRINKS INCLUDING DOMESTIC BEER on the course. So come on out and "Tee Up For Kids!" View attachment 6553

Quail Forever is a great organization. I hope some of you golfers will get out there and support this fund raiser.

I totally agree with 4Bobwhite, getting the kids away from the xbox and into the woods and on the waters will make them a more well rounded adult.

My kids were raised in the outdoors, and at times I wondered if any of it would stick with them later in life. As they became responsible adults, they are introducing their kids to fishing, and hunting.

Shooting sports are just as important. Archery in the schools is becoming very popular. FFA is getting the kids into trap shooting.

It has a two fold benefit. It gets mom and dad off the couch too. :D

Last month our Troop went to "Top Shot" in Cookson, OK and exposed them to many outdoor activities.
There was over 400 scouts there, and maybe the next Jerry Miculek just got his first start!

Shameless plug:
Support the Boy Scouts of America by buying Scout Popcorn this fall.

That is awesome soonerfan. I was an Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. I loved the scouts and really miss it.

It's not too late. Our troop has a gulf war vet that participates and he doesn't even have any boys. He is an Eagle scout and has also earned the Woodbadge award.
