I am wanting to buy a Nagant. Anyone got any input on what I should look for looked at a few today. Price was $ 119 had three with round barrels and all the numbers were not matching and one with hex barrel that had matching numbers. Looked pretty good.

I would go for the hex if it were me. Check the bore. I had one for about a week just for giggles. I got it in a group buy for like $80. It looked like a lot of work to me. It was covered in cosmoline, which isn't fun to take off from what I hear. I have been told to wrap the things in newspaper and leave out in the sun all day. Good luck and get a really thick pad, they kick like a mule!

I like my mn. I got it at a gun show in okc for 89 plus 40 for 440 surplus rounds. 119 sounds a bit high for a non-matching. They are good gun and fun to shoot, just takes a bit to get all the cosmoline cleaned out.

120 or so is the usual going rate I've seen at most shops around Tulsa. Check the classifieds here, or the other site even. Someone always has one to sell. Usually they've done the clean up work already. That saves you a couple of hours if they did a good cleaning.

I picked one up a while back. Seems $120 is the going rate around here now. I'd look for one with a good bore and buy it. Unless you're trying to find a collector's piece for a bargain I wouldn't care to much about when or where it was made. It's a $120 rifle. I picked one out with a real nice mirror bore and it's fun to shoot. I haven't shot it past 50 yards yet but it shot a nice cloverleaf at 50. I think it's a 1939 Tula. I went by a place in Tulsa several months ago and they had several crates full of them. Probably a couple hundred to choose from. I wish I could remember the name of the place but it was downtown. Seemed like they did other business out of the building (audio, as in for concerts, maybe?) but also had an FFL and sold firearms. They were real nice and let me poke around in the crates for a bit.

you're thinking of TK Supply. They are at a lot of the gun shows. Good guys to talk to, I like their shop.

+1

I use distilled water on a patch to get the mercury salt out then follow it with oil.

Wrap the stock in paper towels taped together, put it in a black trash bag and set it outside for the next couple days while it's still hot. That will get most of it out. I then used my wife's clothes steamer to get the rest off. You could just as easily use a pot of water simmering though.
