Ok, this is another gun that has caught my attention recently and was wondering if anyone on the forum has one or has shot one? I love the ergonomics of the Walther P22 and the PK380 appears in all respects to have the exact same ergonomic fit/feel but a wee bit larger due to caliber size. After watching a number of youtube vids on the gun the only negative issue I see is you must have the supplied take down tool in order to disassemble the gun for proper cleaning.

A few years ago me and two buddies all got one at the same time. I had a P22 and I loved it so I thought the same package with more power would be a great idea. First trip to the range was frustrating because it was picky about ammo and the break in period seemed more like a constant drill of clearing malfunctions.

After about 300 rounds and finding the right kind of ammo it started being more reliable until I was shooting one day and noticed something fall off the pistol. I looked down and the safety had broken in half and fell out of either side of the pistol. After looking at it it appeared that the metal just broke in half and the hammer was resting directly on the firing pin. Luckily I was paying attention or that could have been very dangerous.

Walther of course fixed it free of charge but that was enough for me to get rid of it. A few months later both of my buddies experienced the same thing. I don't know if we got a bad batch or what but I have seen stories on the internet of that happening to others as well.

My recommendation is to pass on this one. There are plenty of other .380's out there that are more reliable.

But on the other side i had a Walther PPK/S .380 and a PPS in a 9mm and never had a issue with either the PPK didn't have a huge round count on it but my PPS had a good few many thousand rounds through it without a problem. The only reason i no longer have them was to get my XDS because i wanted a .45 for a cc weapon instead of the .380 or 9 and the XDS is the same size as my PPS.

I have a P22 that I bought used. The gun is awesome. It will shoot almost as fast as I can squeeze the trigger. Never had a problem with it. What I like:
*shoots well
*cheap to shoot
*reliable
*Good fit and feel

What I don't like:
*Mag release
*Reassembly
