If you really want to stake out your ground on "BUSINESSES CAN REFUSE SERVICE TO WOMEN!!!" and intentionally exclude 50% of the country from your customer base, well, ok then. Just realize that even in oppressive hellholes like Saudi Arabia, women are allowed to go shopping when accompanied by a male escort. So your business idea seems to be a rather extreme position, assuming it is legal.

What "WE" the reader can't see or know (Because the reporter wasn't there) is "What actually occurred," and How the sale went down. We are left with a story written and edited to fit the agenda of the publisher and writer. In my world these issues that are written about need to be taken with a grain of salt. I'm sure they do not refuse to sell shotguns to all women. And I'm sure they don't "refuse service to all women." And nobody said they did.
Our society has passed a law stating it is illegal to sell a firearm in a "Straw Purchase." You will go to jail. I don't want to go to jail so I have to follow the law because it is very unlikely that I'll get 12 people like you on my jury. If you're like most you probably try to weasle out of that duty too. That further reduces my chance of winning in court.
This is the first time I have heard that Walmart refused to sell a shotgun to a women. I don't think it is a trend....

Like said above if her sketchy boyfriend or husband was behind her telling g her which gun she wanted. (Which I see at gun shows alot). Then handing her money. I could see refusing service. Can also see if gangster type walks in refusing service or refusing to show a gun. But refusing because she is a woman is wrong. There's plenty of guys that try to buy the most powerfully gun they can find and smack themself in the head under recoil everyday.
I went into Dick's to buy a 308 at the Black Friday sale--WITH MY BADGE--and they refused to let me walk out of the store with the gun until they ran my SLED check...seriously?? Yep. They called me yesterday to say they had more in and I could come get one for 100+ of the sales price. I don't think so, punk. :evil:

I will be honest and tell you I am NOT a road officer any longer. I was in a very very bad accident in 2010 and have very little memory, so now I am a Photographer. The 308 was a rifle I take it? If so, why would you need a CWP? Sounds like a load of hooey! :|

CWP allows you to by-pass the NICS background check.Midnight Raver said:

Yes, even though I have a badge, I still have to have a CWP for personal weapons. I agree that it was a load of hooey because it was a rifle and not a pistol. However, I also know that if you have your CWP on you, they don't have to run the check through the system. Did it matter that I was carrying my pistol? Nope. Because I was black Friday shopping and not trying to get mugged. I stuck my credentials in my pocket, my pistol in my bag along with my baton, a compact and a brush. Oh and the credit card was in my back pocket too. Having the badge overrides the CWP when you're carrying. The workers at Dick's that night were just...Dick employees in the South....

PS. I did get a fantastic deal on a hair straightner over at Ulta. They didn't ask for anything but my credit card.

Don't take it personally. I totally agree it makes NO logical sense whatsoever, but that's the way it is. I have my HR-218 credentials (retired LEO with badge, ID card, current firearms qualification certificates) which allow me to carry nationwide, but still could not purchase a firearm without a background check called in prior to my getting my CWP. And to get the CWP, I had to pay and take the class just like everybody else, then wait 90 days for the card to arrive. Background checks are done (unless CWP holder with card) on all firearms at time of purchase, pistol or rifle.
