I am looking to buy a video camera and would like some recommendations. Mainly just a standard camera not looking for the top of the line mega dollar cameras. Basic use would first to video tape all my tools, TVs, etc. for insurance purposes, next the family, and maybe video taping myself shooting to see my form, etc.

I use the camera's with internal flash storage vs a physical drive or tapes. I have a canon FS10 - it was cheap and easy

I can promise I didnt spend 550 bucks on it, so I guess it has even gone up in value since I bought it 3 or 4 years ago.

This is what I have and it is great!!! Just buy some flash memory cards and you can store a ton of stuff in a small space!

We have the Kodac "Play Sport" which is waterproof to 10 ft. Used in on a recent vacation and it is a pretty good camera. The big drawback is that the screen is pretty much worthless in bright sunlight. However, it is so easy and intuitive to use that if you think you are pointing in the right direction, you probably are. Battery will last about 2 hours and a 8gig memory card will give about 2 hours of HD video.
Good luck with your search.

I have a flip camera and i like it. my wife uses it for videos of the kids, I use it for shooting. The flip software makes it very easy to upload to youtube as well.
