Versamax over gassed?

Had a match this past weekend with a spinner so I decided to get some Prairie storm 2 3/4 #6 1500 fps.

Bolt cycled and ejected the spent shell but the next shell remained on the lifter. Is that load too hot in 2 3/4 and bouncing the bolt back too quickly? Maybe a 3" would be better to cover some of the gas ports?

Anyone else experience this?

Side note, I fixed my previous loading issues and the gun had been running well.

probley did not shoulder it enough. Under hard recoil gun goes back and shells in mag go forward and did not return to shell stop before release was complete. Stand hard behind it & try again.

I have the same problem with full power slugs in my VM, both Remington and Winchester. Nearly 50% malfunction rate.

I'm $500 into this versamax. Absolutely no way an M2 is affordable in my near future.

Just some data for the knowledge base.

All tests 10 rounds with varying # of rounds in the magazine tube. Hard and soft shoulder.

Prairie storm 2 3/4 #6 1500 fps had a 50 % rate of loading the next shell.

Remington goose load 3" BB 1500 fps, 100% on loading the next shell.

3" #4 1450 fps, 100% loading next shell.
