versamax chipped hammer and peening

My versamax has a chipped hammer. Should I send it in or just shoot it since it still works? Does anyone sell a hammer besides Remington for it? I work heat treat and it looks soft from the peening on the face. I may bring it to work and check hardness.

I've heard this is a common issue with the VM.

1st pic i wouldnt worry about, they get a lil peening as do other shotguns at their impact surface. the second pic, it looks like the side of the hammer hook is chipped? Yeah, thats a no go. Call rem and tell them you just want to send in the trigger pack.
