Ok you Dan Wesson fanatics, educate me!

I love the look of the Valkyrie but kind of want to mix it up a little and get a stainless PM-C. Here's my question though - what's the build quality difference in the 2?

Valkyrie MSRP = $2012 Gunbroker - $1270 shipped for 9mm / $1240 shipped for 45
Pointman Carry MSRP = $1597 Gunbroker - $1300 shipped for 9mm OR 38 super

It seems (in my head) that the Valkyrie is the "better buy" due to more savings. Other than the Valkyrie being aluminum, are the internals better at all? I guess the question is what makes the Valkyrie have that much higher retail price?

Ok, I see the Valkyrie also has night sights. So, it's lighter and better sights.
Now the next dilemma - 45 or 9 mm to carry? LOL My mind is going 100 mph

Ok, 1 additional question before I go to sleep. Since the market is flooded right now with deep discounted Valkyries, does this mean they are discontinuing them and I should grab one up while I can?

Parts quality all the same through DW lineup. Build quality basically the same as well. If your going to carry the gun the Valkyrie imo is the better gun for that roll. And I prefer them commanders and CCOs in 9mm. The Valkyrie commanders have been discountinued the CCO was then DW decided to put them back in Production a wise decision IMO. You can't go wrong with any of them IMO for the price they are about as good as your going to do.

The reason the Valkyrie is more is due the the extra options added to the gun that the pm-c doesn't have.

Meh.........
I would highly suggest finding one of the light weight 45s to shoot if you are serious about them. While they carry nice, the recoil pulse is different and to me, feels a bit unbalanced. Another thought, CCO frames and bob tails are great for carry but spdie to the grips, I can't shoot either worth a piss.

P.S.
One thing I would like to try would be a CCO with a high front strap cut. This and a high cut grip safety would allow for a higher grip allowing more control over the pistol when firing.

My LGS has a used Valkyrie that I was able to handle, but not shoot. I'd buy a new one off Gunbroker for $1179 plus shipping because my LGS wants $1599 for the used one!!!

The grip felt great in my hands, but again I didn't actually shoot it.

I think right now I'm leaning towards the 9mm Valkyrie if I get one. My biggest draws to the PM-C are the stainless and 38 super. I know nothing about 38 super, just think it would add to my collection without doubling lol

My current 1911's
Springfield Elite 9mm 5"
Sig Sauer nightmare fastback 357sig 5"
DW Specialist 45acp 5"
Remington R1 45acp 5" (I'm going to sell now)

I'd like to add a 10mm to this eventually so I thought maybe a 38 super would fill it out nicely. Thoughts?

I love the 38 Super

Have a Chambers Custom and a Guncrafter in it.
The Guncrafter is actually a 9mm/38 Super gun...it's a wonderful semi-custom

**More then welcome to come shoot mine, I'm just east of STL....for now

I agree with Bender on trying out a light weight .45 before buying one. However, I just picked up a DW Guardian in .38 Super. It has a bobtail grip but I personally like them. To me, the .38 Super is very controllable in the Guardian, even with hot loads.

I like my Sig bobtail, but I am still very new to 1911's.

Those are well reviewed pistols.....why not just carry it?
That's a good question. I've actually not tried to carry a full sized 1911, I've just "assumed" I would find it entirely too big and heavy. I should give it a whirl, I believe I have an unused Versacarry leather holster that would fit. Hmm....

The Commander Valkyries at $1200
Was the best deal ever. My first Valkyrie was a .45 and I was smitten.
So I got the 9mm Commander. Then being 38 super fan I considered the PMC 38. However I just don't like the
CCO, and it's short grip. So I bought another 9 mm Valkyrie Commander and converted it to 38 superb. Problem solved.

So in your case, It all depends on the Caliber you choose.
9mm then go with the Valkyrie CCO.
38 Superb then the PMC38 would be
my choice.

They are all great guns for sure. If you are really going to carry the gun every single day, and you already have 4 full size guns, the light weight of an aluminum frame and the extra rounds in the 9mm mag is a serious consideration. Also, there will for sure be extra recoil for the 45. That will take you longer to get back on target for quick second shots. As far as stopping power is concerned, the majority of the defensive rounds out there will give that to you in 9mm. I certainly wouldn't want to be shot by any of them. The low price of the Val. is really a big draw. The 38 super is a fantastic round. No question about it. But, unless you are reloading yourself, it is going to be pricey to feed.

You already have a DW Specialist in 45 (as do I). So you already know what a fantastic gun it is. So, that is my take.

There you go.

I just order a stainless steel classic in 38 super from Dan Wesson, if you really want SS and a 38 super, contact Keith at DW and order what you want

Thanks for the reply, I think if I buy one of those 2 I just can't pass up the Valkyrie deal! The biggest problem is that I know myself and what will happen...I will buy the Valkyrie then not carry it because it's too nice!! I already have a new Springfield Elite 9mm, so I don't need another 9mm range gun haha

My Valkyrie .45 Commander is a pleasure to shoot and carry. I haven't found the recoil to be excessive at all. The Duty Treat finish also holds up extremely well to daily carry. Much better than some higher priced semi customs with a similar finish.
Go for the Valkyrie.......shoot it.....carry it....you won't regret it.
