USPSA Range Commands

Not officially, but is sometimes used at level 1 as a warning when getting close. Level 2, there are no warnings you is or you ain't

ROs are free to offer a warning.
8.6.1 No assistance of any kind can be given to a competitor during a course
of fire, except that any Range Officer assigned to a stage may issue
safety warnings to a competitor at any time. Such warnings will not be
grounds for the competitor to be awarded a reshoot.

I know some things are more "relaxed" at a Level 1 match but I like to see all rules/commands used the same at all matches.

I hear a lot of commands at Level 1 matches that are no where near official and I don't think it helps new shooters if we aren't consistent

i.e "clear, holster, blah blah blah" That is a direct quote

I'll say thing like that if it's somebody I shoot with a lot and I know they know what to do, but with new shooters I try to keep it more professional.

Yeah. I always warn if possible.
A- I don't want to have a gun pointed at me or my friends
B- I don't want to send anyone home who is pro-2A enough to actually compete against others

These are the only range commands that exist:
Make Ready
Are you ready?
Standby
Beep (start signal)
Stop! (If you need to stop a competitor)
If you are finished, unload and show clear
If clear, hammer down, holster
Range is clear

EDIT: DON'T DO THAT AGAIN

I will give one warning for everything but 180/sweep yourself.

I am a laid back RO. I Try to keep my eye on the gun at all times, and assume the score keeper is looking for any foot falts, etc.
Anyone that grabs the scoring tablet should know that, but if they look new we need to explain it to them.

Feegee, I'm reading old posts to catch up. I'm getting back into shooting and taking an RO class, but having scored several, I didn't know that (I've never kept score behind you as RO). Thanks for posting.

As a new competitive shooter I would like say I think all the events I have been a part of the R.O. and other shooters have been amazing. In fact Grant and Steve were great at the H&H match last Sunday. I would also like to say I have no problem being help to the same standards as others in the area of safety. If I do something worthy of a DQ I want to be called out on it. I feel that this is one area that strict safety rule violations should be addressed. Thanks to all of you that R.O. and help to continue to make the matches fun and safe.
