Using Pay Pal for Firearms, Knives, or anything remotely close to firearms related

Just and FYI here. Pay pal does not allow you to use their service for firearms or anything related to firearms including knives. So if you make a transaction pertaining to the disallowed items do not put any comments about the item you purchased. I had my account locked because a buyer of a Glock pistol put Glock 24 in the comments. They found my classified ad on the USPSA classifieds and locked me out. Furthermore, if you are sending money Pay pal will not charge you fees if you send the money using the PERSONAL tab and send it as GIFT. Hope this helps make all your transactions much smoother.

If you get caught twice with a gun in your comments you will lose your paypal priveledges indefinately adn they will hold your $ for 180 days and they hold all of your bank, credit card, and other info for 7 years. Yikes!

I bought my rifle via Paypal from a guy on Gunbroker. All I put in the description was "Payment for auction number 9825567". I received a call from Paypal and they were giving me twenty questions about what it was, where the auction was, etc. I told them I purchased a bunch of paintball equipment from an online police auction website.

Yeah they watch it pretty closely. They sent me boomershooter lower receivers as what was going on. I think they are run my the government of California. I am not going to set up another account for a while. Bastards! I wish gun pal wasn't crappy.

I sold a dpms lopro receiver on enos and the buyer paid with ppal...in the description he put 'lo-pro'.
PP locked my account because the transaction was for a firearms component. I complained that it was for a 'LowePro' camera case and I didnt know what they meant...they responded with a copy of my ad from the forum and a warning to not do such things again.
Their search kung fu is very very powerful. Bastards.

I've also received inquiries from them about why so many people have been sending me 'gifts'.

Too bad gunpal ended up being a scam.

Thats troubling that their search and keyword capabilities are that powerful and that they'd go to those lengths to try and call people out...

I've always wondered how they get away with not being held to the same standards as banks when it comes to money transfer. It's one thing for them to claim that they are a private non-banking organization but in practice, they are absolutely one and should not be allowed to disciminate on the types of transactions made using the service.

The fee only applies when you are the seller.

Usually the seller pays the fees. If you send money to an individual send it A's a personal gift. There are no fees on either end.

This has been their policy for years!!!! That is why almost everyone doing business on gun forums list "discreet paypal" as a payment method. Sucks that someone didn't realize that Paypal is as anti-gun as Democrats and caused problems but this is nothing new to Paypal.

IIRC if you use gift as a payment method, there is no protection offered if someone screws you over because you should not be expecting anything in return for a gift. So if you are paying through paypal, use gift instead of normal payment, and the person doesn't send you what you bought from them, Paypal will not offer any kind of support for this and more than likely dig deeper since you are complaining about not receiving merchandise for a "gift" payment.

So use gift if you absolutely trust the seller or feel you could get your money back another way in case the seller stiffs you.

There is a Payment Owed option under the personal tab that doesn't charge fees.
