David. I completely understand capitalism and I applaud you for your efforts and business sense. I believe the predicament is that the new manager at HO has figured out they are doing all of the giving and you are doing the majority of the taking.
very classy to post this on the internet with limited information instead of talking in person... i know for a fact he has given out numerous discounts/certificates/spent extra money on props, etc... that other people don't. Sad that people take shots at each other on the internet and it has to turn into people having to defend themselves.. thought this forum was above that....

Except that you do not have a clue what you are talking about.

You don't have "limited information," you have zero information.

You don't know the arrangement much less the extensive positive economic impact I and these matches have had on HO and I'm not talking about the match fees.

If you don't want to shoot or support this match, that's fine. I don't remember you ever shooting this match, anyway. I'd appreciate it if you'd stop the thread hijack.

This forum isn't above anything, and that's the beauty of it.

Those of you that have won certificates, what have you utilized them for? IE, did you win one that you put towards an item that you would NOT have bought at HO? I used the certificate I won at HO, and spent an additional $30. If I could have spent more at the time, I would have.

Did you win one you never used? No.

Have these matches brought your attention to HO and have subsequently spent money there as opposed to spending it at a competitor? Yes. Anything I can buy at HO instead of H&H, the money goes to HO. Not really because of this match so much as H&H really needs to be managed a LOT better and get things in stock that make sense.

Has this match prompted you to bring other people? No, but I recommend it all the time to people who express an interest in being an American and going to shoot things at high speed.

Would you shoot these matches if:

1) no certificates were offered or fewer were awarded? Yes.

2) match fee was increased to $25? Yes. I can rarely attend, so $5 isn't an issue.

3) match fee was $15, but no certificates and shorter, quicker stages? Yes.

What is the biggest draw of this match?

4) other. It's a match, and usually interesting, if only because of the unorthodox targets.

Hey! No one is more humble than me!
Please understand, the crack about David's humility was in jest. I didn't mean to stir any debate on capitalism. I appreciate the Sunday evening matches with shared credit going to David E and the HO management--even Benjamin2. I easily get my money's worth from the match fees and the money I've spent at HO just because I was conveniently there for match.

As some of you know, here have been changes at Heartland Outdoors.

There is a new store manager and he was not aware of the previous agreement I had arranged over 3 years ago with the original store manager.

Long story short, there will probably be some major changes to the match. I don't know what they will or won't be, but they could be significant.

Those of you that have won certificates, what have you utilized them for? IE, did you win one that you put towards an item that you would NOT have bought at HO? YES. Including a Tactical Versa Max. My wife Kelly used hers towards an HK416 .22

Did you win one you never used? NO. BUT I HAVE A COUPLE I INDEND ON USING.

Have these matches brought your attention to HO and have subsequently spent money there as opposed to spending it at a competitor? YES

Has this match prompted you to bring other people? YES

Would you shoot these matches if:

1) no certificates were offered or fewer were awarded? YES

2) match fee was increased to $25? YES :(

3) match fee was $15, but no certificates and shorter, quicker stages? YES

What is the biggest draw of this match?

1) shooting challenges. ALWAYS DIFFERENT AND CHALLENGING

2) camaraderie. GREAT

3) $50 certificates. YES

4) other. HAD A MEMBERSHIP AT H&H BUT CHANGED TO HO AFTER SHOOTING THESE MATCHES.

I'd like to know so if I have a chance to negotiate, I'll know what's most important to our shooters.

MEANWHILE, call HO (405-340-7530) and ask for Steve. Tell him how much you appreciate the matches, etc and maybe throw in a good word for your humble match director.

Yes I have won several over the last couple of years, in 2012 I used one for a discount when I renewed my family membership....Which I didn't have prior to shooting matches.

I had a couple that I used on my HK416, I found it advertised somewhere else $100. Cheaper but purchased it from HO because I had the certificates and I want to support my local range where I shoot.

And I currently have one or two that I am thinking about putting toward a shotgun.

I have also purchased various other items like a grip with laser sight, range bag, speed loader, ammo etc.

Did you win one you never used? Are you kidding

Have these matches brought your attention to HO and have subsequently spent money there as opposed to spending it at a competitor? I try to buy from HO when they have something I need...because this is where I shoot.

Has this match prompted you to bring other people? Yes I have brought several girl friends to HO to shoot with me during the day that became interested in shooting and 4 of them are now gun owners, other friend and family members have attended matches.

Would you shoot these matches if:

1) no certificates were offered or fewer were awarded? Yes

2) match fee was increased to $25? Yes, but I think that would discourage some of my friends from coming.

3) match fee was $15, but no certificates and shorter, quicker stages? Yes.....if I could get half of my second shoot.

What is the biggest draw of this match? Fun, Friends, I like the different challenges, I like that it is not intimidating for new shooters...its a great place to improve you shooting at any level, random drawing

1) shooting challenges - always

2) camaraderie - great

3) $50 certificates - fun, but if something had to change i would rather see $25 certificates with no increase in match fee.

4) other - Just Thanks David for putting so much effort into making this a safe, fun atmosphere to improve shooting skills.

I'd like to know so if I have a chance to negotiate, I'll know what's most important to our shooters.

YES, I won 2 certs . I would not have taken my business to HO were it not for the certs. I ended up spending approximately $550 total, mostly at the archery pro shop.

Did you win one you never used?

Have these matches brought your attention to HO and have subsequently spent money there as opposed to spending it at a competitor? If it were not for the matches, I would not go to HO, ever.

1) shooting challenges

2) camaraderie

3) $50 certificates

4) other

Talked to Steve today and they have decided that henceforth, there will only be ONE $50 certificate awarded.

Judging by the responses in this thread, this will have a minuscule, if any, impact on shooter participation. And we are still the ONLY match to give out any monetary prize.

The match fee will NOT increase, the stages will NOT be shorter. The Fun Factor remains high.

Aside from the single certificate, there are ZERO changes.

See you all June 2nd!
