Upping trigger pull weight, good idea, bad idea, or who cares?

I've decided to try and wean myself off of ultralight triggers. My limited gun was under 2 pounds when I broke it down for cleaning last night. I upped it and the singlestack to 3 pounds. I don't really think the pull weight was an advantage anyway, but we'll see. What say the masses?

Currently have several guns with lightened triggers. I keep all of them at 3lbs even. I shot a guys open gun that was really light.
Not being used to that trigger, I fired a shot on target, but it was unintended. I guess one would get used to it though.

Now my LR rifles have light triggers, I like them about 2# my 243 however is 12oz but there's a good reason. Funny on my pistols I like a trigger of around 3-4# not really sure why I guess I can pull until I feel the wall then know a touch more pressure it goes boom.

I know when I first started shooting Kurt G24 there were several times targets would get bonus bullets LOL. I'm thinking you should be fine and truth I bet you'll not even notice in a match the bit more trigger pull. Later,

Damn good idea I say.

Everything I shoot has a 3 lb. trigger. It makes the mechanics of slapping the s%#@ out of them at speed about the same.

The trigger had little "wall" which made shooting when my hands are cold very difficult. The trigger has a very nice break and strong reset which I like, I just don't think the fact it was stupid light was a benefit. In fact I had numerous occasions where I would prep the trigger and unleash lead downrange with a less than optimal site picture.

If it was about my 12oz trigger on the 243 WELL it's not your normal 243 you'd carry around in the woods shooting bambi THIS is the rifle you sit on your porch drinking coffee watching TV shooting bambi rifle ;D This was built as a LR p-dog rifle and I must say it works well and with the distances we are shooting it doesn't take much to put you off target. Think 12oz is light? I've shot a couple of 50's with 4oz set triggers but they shoot a little further than I've gotten out too Later,

My buddy has a .22-250 Puppy Dog gun with a 6oz trigger. Its not something you want to breathe on, but it dammed sure goes off with just the heart trob pressure in your finger. I can't shoot it.

This is just a guess but I bet your accuracy gets better with a touch more trigger weight, might take a little bit but keep an eye on it. Funny I was more accurate with Jesse's revo than the G24! don't know if it was just taking more time since in the back of my mind I knew I had limited rounds or what.

Most of my LR rifles I go with 2# but the 243 well it was actually an error on my part that turned out well, took a Timney trigger apart and thought I could make it better well 3 days later I had it back together. Hint don't take a Timney trigger apart they are difficult to get back together. Later,

I don't want to get off topic but I have a question about a new xd9 I got recently. I have been outrunning the trigger on some of the fast shooting stages I will shoot to fast and the trigger won't reset.it has a springer kit in it so the pull is fine it is just the reset is giving me problems anyone know how to help me out on shorting the reset up a little I don't want to find myself slapping the trigger.

See above. PPC is a different sport where light triggers are likely an advantage. In USPSA handgun you are pretty much mashing the trigger followed by a quick jump off then another mash. For harder shots I want that jump off the trigger to happen and then be able to bring it back to the break point quickly, this is harder for me to do with a lighter trigger.
