Just wanted to add a couple of other organizations to your list of contacts.

NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) who I know is currently seeking organizations who need grant money to establish programs to encourage new shooters to the sport, and the ORA (Oklahome Rifle Association) who may be able to help with your organization provide speakers on legal issues before the state government and possible other sources for funding for your group.

Thanks Raford! I sent something to the NSSF and will contact the ORA, that looks like a great organization. Hopefully we can get funding from outside the university, this whole ordeal has really turned me off to even trying to get any kind of funding from them.

Hey Court,
I went to OU and was an engineer student myself and highly involved with several organizations. I know that whenever we asked for money we asked for about three times as much as what we needed knowing that they were not going to give us that much. Hopefully what they were going to give us would cover what we really needed to cover. They also do not give much to first time applicants. Each time we applied we kept getting more money since they have given to us before. Make sure to keep all of your files and make sure they get to the next round of officers. The problem isnt the amount, its why they are trying to block our funding. I talked to the Chair of the Student Congress and I am planning on setting up a meeting with the VP of Student Affairs about it. We have definitely learned from this experience, but we arent done fighting for our funding just yet.

Sorry about missing your post. I spent the weekend in Lawton with family and Cody went home. We definitely want to get out to some of these events, school is just really piling on right now. We are having an event the last week of February and would love some of you guys to come to that if you get the chance. We will have more info on the facebook page as we work everything out.

Oh yes, sorry my brain is fried from all this school work. We are planning on having it the 26th but need to do some final checking before we set a definite date.

The shoot date is the 26th of April. Again it is officially a student shoot but if anyone wants to stop by and meet some of the guys come to Sgt Everett's a little before 6.
