Glad you got both guns back so quickly...Lets hope they are right, now...

Serious question...After reading your posts, and, because I have never had to send any gun back to the manufacture...How did you do it??? I noticed you said you picked it up from Fed-EX...I thought that only FFL's can ship weapons, or, was the factory here in SC....

Please help me to not be any more confused than I already am....

Steve

If you are sending back to the manufacturer you can ship from the freight location of Fedex or UPS. The manufacturer can ship to your residence. The only 2 caviot are that no ammo be shipped and it has to be overnite shipping. That's it.

If you already own the firearm you can mail it US Postal Service (Long Guns only) or FedEx, DHL, UPS, et al. (Hand Guns & Long Guns) and receive it directly to your house, place of business, or anywhere else you choose. Sending a weapon to a manufacturer for repair or to an FFL holder for upgrade/customization/etc. does not require you, the owner, to use an outgoing FFL. Since you already own the weapon, it will be returned to your house or other place you designate.

You can also mail guns to yourself. For example: If you want to go hunting in Alaska you can mail your rifle to the cabin or a friend or relative there to hold onto until you get there. You already own the gun so there is no requirement to have a gun dealer transfer it from you and then back to you.

You were right on everything but there is a little bit more to it from what I was just told by Manual Doctor with ATF. I just called him. This is very much a gray area. You do this wrong and catch yourself a first class ride to prison. If that gun crosses state lines and is going to another "individual" family or not and its not you that is a felony. You can however address it to YOURSELF but only YOU can open the package. If your family happens to sign for it they CAN'T open the package or that would be a felony under the gun control act. The second part of this is it has to be for sporting purposes....IE Hunting in that state is a legit reason to ship it there. I am not arguing with what you said but only elaborating on it so you dont find yourself in trouble if you end up shipping this way.

Thanks...I didn't know that. I always thought you had to have an FFL ship them for you...

Steve

He is right but the cheapest way is for somebody like myself to ship it for you if the manufacturer will not pick up shipping. The shipping for overnight is very expensive. Usually $50-$80 so my $35 to ship it priority mail is just a drop in the bucket. Remember only I can ship handguns through USPS. And when its a repair out and back in I dont have to do a 4473 so I wont charge you the $15 when it comes back.

Henery...This what I always figured...to me, it is easier to let Henry do it and not worry about it...I have mailed long guns to other people...and, I kind of got scared ...

I had a fool in Alabama trade me a Colt .45 acp...We discussed how we were going to ship his gun to me, and my gun to him. I had Henery ship mine, but, that fool just boxed the Colt Commander up and drop it in the mail box...
The post office ran the box thru the X-ray machine...saw it was a gun, and called ATF...

Needless to say, he lost the Colt, and I had to promise him I would be on his front lawn in 2 days to change his attitude...Then he sent me my gun back...And, I had to pay Henery his FFL fees...

So...all I am saying is...lets be careful out there...

Since you brought up irrelevant trivia, Beretta has been manufacturing firearms before Brazil was even a colony.

Stop being an a$$hole. We get it, you do not like Taurus. I suppose that you only drive Bentley automobiles and only eat Kobe beef at the finest restaurants. There is no such thing as perfect and many people find that Taurus firearms work well for them.

And by the way, Beretta was founded in 1526, Brazil was claimed as colony of Portugal on April 23rd 1500.

Jeff
Damn  U da man Jeff :P

Good to hear a first hand account of their warranty. I have a 738 that wont feed properly and i need them to do some work on it.

Except that 1) He's not the man, 2) I don't not like Taurus and 3) Brazil was not colonized by the time Pietro Beretta manufactured their first firearm.

Other than that, I agree!

O.K. I will not argue with you. And as for your 3 points:
(1) I make no claims to be "The Man",
(2) I concede that, as I do not really know you, perhaps it was hasty of me to assume from your posts that you do not like Taurus.
(3) I guess that it is possible that Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta began manufacturing firearms prior to turning 10 years old. (He was born in 1490 according to all accounts that I could find.) (see: http://www.beretta.com/beretta-internat ... 3&did=1501 )

I thank you for setting me straight, I will be the first to admit that I am prone to making errors at times. I will now state for the record that you are "The Man." Congratulations!

Jeff

(P.S. I do not really harbor any ill will toward you, just thought that maybe you could lighten up a little. Hopefully I can buy you a hotdog at the next Shootzenfest & we can laugh about this!)

I think that I could use some of that Scotch... LOL

Maybe we can all take a collection and buy Avtomat-Acolyte a $50 highpoint. Not that there is anything wrong with them.

What difference does Brasilian colonizaiton and Berettas birth have to do with the quality of a gun. Nothing...unless he was still alive today.

It would not be the first time several people on the forum all kicked in to buy a fellow member a gun.
Guns make excellent gifts.

Overnight shipping is not required anymore according to Springfield Armory for a pistol through FedEx. They are sending mine back two day as we speak. I'm not saying it is right or wrong but that is what they are doing. They did overnight my gun to them but said that to has changed since it went to them.

Good topic...It was never law that you had to send overnight. It is company policy...The key thing fedex or UPS will tell you is you cant do it. That is not true. The truth of the matter is you wont have an insurance claim covered unless you ship by policy which is overnight. This is not a problem for large companies as a loss on a claim of one or two guns a year is nothing to them but with a small guy like myself or you will lose a gun thats like losing a half moths pay...So thats the deal.
