So, I changed my rear sight to a Novak Plain Black adjustable sight and it appears that I need a taller front sight. I did Brownell's sight calculator and a .300" front sight height should work. I just can't find one. So if anybody knows where to find one or what other ideas that'll work so I don't have to live with a completely skewed sight picture would be appreciated.

Are you sure that's right? .300 is way freakin' tall, like a shark fin on the front of your gun. I've only seen sights that tall on tactical model pistols, for use with a suppressor.

Thank you. I was thinking the same thing. According to the micrometer and the brownell calculator it's right. I'm at a loss, all of the .300 front sights I've found belong to revolvers.

those novak adjustables are horrible. Dawson should have them in .300, if thats really what you need.

It is adjustable just not enough. With the sight set to the highest it can be it still shoots a foot high. And Mike if you've seen the brownell sight height calculator that's where I'm getting my number from.

I think you might not be entering the measurements in inches.

At what distance were you shooting?
Which model M&P is it?
how high were you?

Mike's the man, I'd bet he could do the calcs in his head........after just waking up..........from a night of beers with the boys. :D

Also are you adjusting the sight the right way? You should be lowering the rear sight.

Not trying to be a smartass...we've all done it.

I was shooting at near 30 yards, Its an M&P 40 pro 5", and the table was about 4' high, I was shooting on a rest and to do my measurements it was for sure inches, I was using and old school starrett micrometer. And Chambers definitely not taking any of these comments like that. Just trying to get some answers and handy comments before buying a "shark fin" front sight as Wall put it.

*UPDATE* I just got off the phone with Novak, they got it figured out for me. I need a .225, thank you everyone for the comments and help.

That still seems tall, but glad to hear they got you fixed up.
Let us know how it shoots when you get the new "fin" on. :D
