Troy or Samson?

Google Troy Industries and Lon Horiuchi.

They got a lot of bad press a few years ago. Don't know anything about their lawsuit with Samson.
Jody Weis, the gun-control-supporting former Superintendent of Police of the Chicago Police Department was hired by Troy Asymmetric, which is the training division of Troy. After the initial backlash, he was let go. This is about the same time the public found Dale Monroe, Horiuchi's spotter at Ruby Ridge. Troy decided to keep this individual on the pay roll.

Troy sued Samson due to a patent issue and also violated a non-compete agreement. Troy won the law suit, and Samson filed for bankruptcy. (My first Samson hand guard arrived the day before the Bankruptcy announcement, so I was hoping I had no problems with the product)

All that first stuff is way over my head.

Geeze. I like both companies product. Looks like I'm going with my old standby decision process, get whatever looks most badass to me. I'm pretty sure I would prefer a metal hand guard.

As an aside, I always try to support the companies that are involved in what we do. For instance, I tossed the knock off Chinese offset sights that were obviously ripped off from Barry Deuck. But on the other hand, I'm having trouble justifing $250 for the genuine article. I know it's a business, I know manufacturers are in it for profit, and I'm all about people succeeding. Yet, I wonder how even China can produce something that close for 10% of the real thing.

The Nordic rails are damn nice too, especially for the price. They're not as thin profile as the Samson or Troy, but it's still a solid option.

I have a troy alpha 15" and I like it. I noticed Sti Handguards on dawson website that look pretty nice for a good price that will be my next builds handguard

I have both a Troy Alpha Rail 15" and a Samson Evo 15". Honestly don't prefer one over the other. They are both nice rails. Samson Evo was a little easier to add rail sections to, but you only do that once anyways so it wouldn't be a deciding factor for me. You'd be happy with either one.

The problem with the STI handguard is they don't come in XL, only RFL length & shorter.
