Troy or Samson?

Planning winter upgrades. Looking at 15" hand guard. Is one significantly better than the other? Or just pick the one that moves my spirit? I really like my 13" Troy battle rail. And should I get keymod?

Have you looked at midwest industries lightweight series? Theyre nice. Thin too if you like the costa (tendonitis) c clamp grip

Both of those options are equally awesome.
The Troy has a lot more grip to it.
The keymod only comes into play if you want to attach stuff to the handguard.

The one i was refering to has a very small area that has top rail.

I don't have one but I have heard really good reviews for the new UTG Pro Super Slim. Take a look b fore you judge. The reviews are great.

I jumped on the "boycott troy" bandwagon a couple years back, but that was after I had one of their 9" alpha on my sbr.

I moslty use and reccomend Midwest Industries and Samson. What gas block will be under this one? I had to dremel the inside of my Midwest G2 Slim where my new Carbon Arms clamping gas block sits. Plus, the Midwest comes with a great barrel nut wrench that fits nicely in a vice.

Next run and gun handguard will be AP carbon fiber.

I like a rail up top for my offset sights and I like a smooth side. If there is anything on the outside near the end like that QD sling swivel it can and will get hooked on a barricade your trying to use as support and will screw up your ability to move the gun unless take it out of contact with the barricade. I've had stuff on the side of my gun screw me up twice.

I like the Samson rails because I've seen Scott and Kathy Samson shooting matches with us.

I just put a bcm kmr 13 inch on a 6.5 grendel build. It's easily an extra hunski more than the troy or Sampson but it is light....Real light I'm finding it hard not to pull out the credit card for more of em.

I like the Samson handguards as well as the AP's
I've talked to AP about a skinny version of their HG. I think that'd be the ticket.
We'll see if they decide to do anything with it but they've got a lot of irons in the fire right now.

The reason I ask about keymod is that one MD around here likes slings. I like the looks of that Midwest Industries. And the Samson, and Troy. Don't know anything about a Troy boycott.

Google Troy Industries and Lon Horiuchi.

They got a lot of bad press a few years ago. Don't know anything about their lawsuit with Samson.

I like the AP Customs from Tony at MakeReadyProshop.com ...I "think" you can add sling mounts and rails if you want to...but I like it smooth myself

I had the daniel defense quad rail on there before...whatever you decide, weight makes a big difference on that end of the rifle imo
