if your cutting them down, why not just get the 9rnd mag?
Please explain

I'll ask about this "system" mag, but I can tell you that the "normal" 9rnd 10mm mag with the hybrid follower IS on the table

Threegungeezer - 5 10R-45-RG with the standard base pads.

I like the idea of those system mags. That way I can use them for heavy mental and USPSA SS.

Are there any issues with not having enough extra sticking out to get them inserted firmly in a gun with a magwell?

I just put the aluminum base pads on my Tripp mags tonight that I got from Make Ready. Man, they look nice! I just wasn't happy with that plastic stuff on the originals.
Purely an estetics thing with me.

when I ordered mine I asked about the corey mags, they asked me what I was going to use the gun for (single stack) and they said no reason to not just use the regular 9 round .40 mags... which is what I got and they work nicely, but then again so does the STI mags.. but the Tripps are easy to take apart and clean...
