Anyone seen the Heavy Duty Night sights from Trijicon?
http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/produc...t1.php?id=HDNS

Looks like MSRP is another $40 over the standard NS, but I found them on Amazon for $105 for the orange and $126 for the yellow shipped.
Anyone with first hand experience?

Trijicon HDâ"¢ Night Sights
These three-dot tritium heavy duty night sights were created with the challenges of law enforcement and military duty in mind. With their yellow or orange photoluminescent paint outline and tall blade, the front sight increases visibility and quickens sight acquisitionâ€"even in transitional lighting. The rear sight is black-outlined and specially shaped for faster front sight acquisition. Additionally, the front surface is steeply hooked to assist in emergency one-handed slide operation. The Hard Duty Night Sights are designed to shineâ€"even in the most demanding conditions.

Todd Green ( www.pistol-traning.com) had some on his G17 Gen4 wile he was here in June and he really likes them. He's changed to a Ameriglo sight now and I Much prefer this Ameriglo Sight the operator Pro with Green and Yellow lamps. ( http://www.ameriglo.net/catalog/sights/pistol-sights/glock/night-sights/complete-sets/pro-operator)

Those Ameriglo's are also some nice looking sights. Would there be any kind of advantage in a U shaped vs square shaped notch on the rear sight? I do like the serrated surface on the Trijicons, I know they are supposed to reduce glare but I don't know if I would ever notice a difference

Well I'd look at it this way, TLG had the Trigs on for quite a wile and really liked them, But he went to the Ameriglos, though not the ones I linked to and set his Best ever FAST time of 3.91.

Honestly it would be really hard to tell and more training and a good practice regimen would bring much better results than the difference either set of sights would make.

I prefer the square notch; theres been a couple times that ive caught wicked glare off of it.
If all those trijicons have are the color, I can easily throw a little lime or yellow duracoat around the front dot.

They are hit and miss with people. The "U" notch is different as I'm used to a square cut. The front sight does show well during the day and I can see it helping a novice shooter seeing the front sight faster. I've had people shoot those and shoot my Warrens and they seem to like the Warrens better. During the night, they look like any other NS, as the front is not a larger tritium.

I have had a vary positive experience with these. I have the orange set and much prefer the "u"notch to the "square" notch. I pick up the front sight much faster with the "u" compared to square. The only complaint I have, is that with the sun to your back you sometimes get a little glare on the front sight because of the protective clear coat they use to protect the photoluminescent powder mixed paint. But It's a vary minor issue. Overall they are an excellent piece of kit. I have been using them for about a year now. And would have no problem recommending them.
