What have you done to yours? I'm curious to see if someone has done the famed "Glock torture test" or something similar to their EDC handgun.

I haven't done anything to my XD's yet (I'm kinda scared to do so, lol), but I have plans....

ive heated up a few AR uppers. thats all. im not throwing something in the mud. others have done that. one you tube vid shows an AR blow up, i believe just from water.

i had 2 10.5 uppers at the Shootzenfest this spring. we were swapping them as they got hot.

makes me wonder how they do over there, Afganistan. they only have the 1 upper and ive seen vids of them shooting a LOT from them. and those 240s 200 rd boxes one after another.

i had a Ruger mkII 22 i put about 15,000 rounds through.i never threw it in the mud or anything but it did not get cleaned very often lol when i sold it was still running like a champ

I'd have no problems torture testing a Glock, but my Kimber cost too much

Not sure of the point of torture testing ones own gun. Unless I got a room full and just want to see one blow up, what's the point? If you get on youtube, sooner or later you'll find some bubba who's done something dump and destroyed his. No reason for me to mess up mine.

Carson and Craig, I agree that torturing a firearm is potentially a $1000 or more experiment, where both life and limb could be lost. I've gotten a whole lot of advice from people's personal experiences already from this forum, so I was curious as to what yall have done purposefully or accidentally that one could consider "torturous."

I personally want to see how my gun handles being dropped in mud (not left in there for weeks) and water, mag in and mag out, and see how it performs (if at all). I've read once where a guy supposedly threw his XD down a few times (I think off a hill or cliff?) and all that broke was the loaded chamber indicator on the back. Plus, he didn't clean it. Ever. If I find that article again, I'll post it here.

I let my fingers do the walking, for those of you who are of adequate vintage to know what that means. For those of you who aren't, I trust my equipment is of a consistent manufacture with those similar units that have been torture tested by others who contribute (and get paid for) such reviews. Do you crash your car to make sure the airbags will deploy?

i need a reason to get a new barrel for my Ruger Gunsite Scout, less then a year and more then 1k through it lol

But then again this is the Handgun section.....

I have fired over 30,000 round in my G23 and I can't claim that it was the only amount fired through it because I brought is used but refurbished from GLOCK.

The frame cracked at the slide buffers just in front of the foreward rails, GLOCK replaced the frame for free.
I shot it more and more then the locking lug on the bottom of the barrel seared off. GLOCK replaced the barrel for free.
So I continue to carry it in the winter months and shoot it regularly at the IDPA & GSSF matches. That is torture enough for me.

It takes a licking and gets fixed when it ain't ticking, good enough for me.

I was on hog hunt a few years ago when the dogs caught one on a muddy creek bank. After sliding and falling around in the mud we got the hog tied and on the truck. When I got back to where we were staying I was trying to wash some of the mud off of me.I was carrying a Ruger P-97 in a nylon holster and both were packed with mud.I washed the Ruger and holster out with a water hose,re-holstered the Ruger and put it in the truck with intent of cleaning it up when I got home.I forgot about it for about a month but when I got it out, thinking it would be ruined,it was fine. It's still reliable and shoots where you point it.
