Topper Model 88 12 Gauge shotgun

What should I do with it? I bought it for $50, and it's missing the wooden forend. The barrel is 28" long, full choke, and fairly rusted. I'm looking for ideas here.

I kinda want to turn it into a backpack gun because I can assemble/disassemble it in like .5743 seconds.

I've contemplated having a .22LR barrel machined to go inside it, and have it fixed to where the insert wouldn't twist around in hopes that it would make it more accurate. Also contemplated putting a scope on it for kicks and giggles.

If this should be moved to the "Roll your own" section, I apologize! I figured it might need to go here in the longarm section, since it's a longarm.

I'd love to make this into an all-round hunting/backpacking shotgun with the addition of rifle sights and some storage of shells. And I bought it without the forend; would that really affect the usability of the gun? I have an idea of fabricating a replacement forend that will hold shells, but I have no clue as to where to begin.

Also, it has a full choke. I don't think I can shoot slugs from it. Do yall think it is possible to have the choke removed, and then drilled so that I could screw in Mossberg or Remington chokes?

Your local gun shop should be ablr to order you a new forarm from the factory....But, it may cost you more thanyou paid for the gun.

The forarm should have metal in the front where it goes in to help support the barrel...I don't think I would shoot it without the forarm.

You might also try Brownell's or some other gun parts supplier...Or look on EBAY...you never know...

there is a guy that usually has a large group of tables at the gun show in Gville. he sells mags and lots of parts.

i believe his sign just says PARTS

scrub off that rust and blue so BOB can put a finish on it.

I've been to Brownell's website, and they have it, but it would cost me a little over $40 to have it shipped, doubling the price of the gun. I wonder if I could fabricate something to support the barrel...is it dangerous or just inaccurate to shoot it without the forend?
