You may be a decent shot at the range... but how well do you perform while hauling your guns and gear cross country? Prepare yourself for the challenge of the Thunderbird Run 'n Gun!

The Thunderbird Run 'n Gun is a center-fire biathlon, combining a 2 mile run with 5 shooting stations for rifle and pistol, being organized by me and hosted by Ken Caudill at the Thunderbird Range. It will be held on July 13, 2013 at the Thunderbird Range in Tecumseh. The entry fee is $45, and includes a T-shirt and dinner. It is limited to 60 participants, so sign up now to reserve your spot. This is true field-style shooting, with no classes or equipment limitations. If you want to carry it for 2 miles, you can use it. The estimated round count is 80 rifle and 45 pistol. Your final score will be a combination of your run time and your shooting score, weighted equally. This is not 3-gun or practical rifle... it is a biathlon. As such, it has rules and procedures that are unique to this type of event, and those wanting to participate will need to familiarize themselves with them. Trust me -- it doesn't get much more fun than this!

It's more hill and dale. It's on an 80 acre tract... the back 40 is the shooting range, and the front 40 are woods, creeks, ponds, pastures, etc. The shooting stations are all on the shooting range (except for the stage with the provided shotgun). Between each station, we send you on a different loop through the front 40. There may be some challenges along the way to crawl under and whatnot.

How does the time work exactly? Specifically when you start does timer A start for the run portion then when you arrive at the shooting position does timer A stop? Then does the shooting timer B start instantly or do you load and make ready off the clock? Then how about the time it takes to unload and show clear?

Lastly are the results tabulated as totally of thr running and shooting times combined or is it a % of the fastest time for each portion with those two % added together to determine the winner?

If you go to the sign up page and click on the "more competitor info" tab, the remaining available slots comes up.

Also, most of your questions are answered on their various pages, but you have to look at all of them. They need a central page with that info, but nobody cares what I think.

Since this seems like a pretty slow sign up, lets talk about what secret ninja gear you plan to wear & shoot at this event. I'll start.

Plaid burmuda shorts, white wife beater, black rayon knee socks, 24" heavy barrel AR10 with a primary arms red dot and a 5 gallon camelback.......

I'm torn between an LC9 and Nano for my sidearm.

:)

I'm thinking I need a Tac best to carry my mags. If I run 5 miles in a competition belt I'm probably gonna lose my britches.
