Any thoughts, tips, recommendations on keymod rails? My experience with the pre-keymod modular rails (Midwest SS) are that they are annoying to reconfigure.

M-Lok appears to be edging into the lead for a variety of reasons, some you mentioned.

I was all set to buy a KeyMod Tavor handguard from Midwest Industries so I could put a VFG and some extra, goofy bullshit on the front end of my Tavor. Then I saw where they are getting ready to release an M-Lok variant of the same thing. I've spent the past two months comparing every single thing about the two, proprietary rail mounting "systems" and M-Lok appears to have a small technical advantage from what I can tell. The more important facet is that M-Lok looks like the industry is going to rally behind it and KeyMod will be relegated to one of those "stepping stone" to greatness things.

As for the specifics why I (on paper) give the slight edge to M-Lok, the technicalities and the nuances of both currently escape my immediate recall. I just remember making up my mind "Wait and buy the M-Lok Tavor Handguard from Midwest Industries" so that is what I'm doing.

For me the biggest advantage is that everyone has tons of Magpul on the shelf, so there will be no shortage of rails, mounts, and whatnot. I wouldn't be suprised to see mounts for optics and lights that skip the pic rail interface.

I have a rifle with a keymod rail setup. I didn't go out of my way to acquire it; PSA just happened to have a great deal that had a Keymod rail configuration.

Thus far, I like it well enough. There is some added expense to add rails or swivel studs where you need/want them, but on the flip side you don't need to put rail covers on to hide unneeded rail slots. I don't have any strong feelings and suspect MLOC will work as well.

I have used the Keymod system to support a mount point for a sling swivel and slung up nice and tight with no issues, so it seems sturdy. I have not put a laser or other attachment that needs to hold a zero on there.

Seems like a six and 1/2 dozen thing to me.
