Thinking of getting into some 3 gun. Although there are a lot of opinions out there, I would like some suggestions for a shotgun. Semi Auto preffered (I think). Something in the $500.00 range. That would leave a bit left over for some add ons (sights?). Something that is ready to go out of the box would be preffered. Any response is appreciated.

I was in your position recently. I wanted to get setup for shooting 3 gun without breaking the bank. I went with a CZ 712 Utility. I would suggest you let Tony at makereadyproshop.com hook you up, but I see you're not local. Bud's has these for $428 right now. Add a +3 tube to give 8+1 capacity ($76 from makereadyproshop.com, sticks out about 1/2" beyond the 20" barrel), oversized button safety ($26, again from Tony), HiViz fiber optic sight ($30 from Tony) and you're just about ready to go. Oversized bolt handles aren't available right now. One of those would round out the package. For under $600 you could have a decent 3 gun shotgun. Not saying go with the CZ 712 Utility, just sharing an option.

The Mossberg JM is a pretty damn nice package for the money. Is a Benelli or Versamax nicer? Yes, but either of those will cost a lot more money. If I had bought my JM first, I probably wouldn't have bought my Benelli M2.

Not just cause I'm fond of the CZ's and know about all the things that will make you cuss one but just buy a CZ712 or save your pennies for a VersaMax. Nothing against the Mossberg but I feel they are not the best option. Later,

Kirk

I go to OKC on a semi regular basis. Step daughter having a baby in mid Dec., so wife goes up regular and will be going more the closer the date comes. Ill check out this site and do a drive by next week or so.

Thank

I dig the Mossberg fo sho. I haven't had any direct experience with the cz shotgun, but I think the loading port isn't opened up like the Mossberg, and there is the lack of a larger charging handle. Those things may not mean much to you but are worth thinking about. There are already a number of aftermarket goodies for the Mossberg if you want them. I think the cz is up and coming and will probably have all the same kind of stuff in the near future. I don't know the process to unload the magazine tube of the cz, but the Mossberg is very easy to unload and show clear at the end of a stage. Happy hunting. I think either of the two will make you happy, just pick the one you like best.

If you make it to Tulsa hit me up and you can shoot my JM Pro 930.

JM Pro and CZ712 is about all you can get for that money. The other option would be to borow one of our shotguns for the time bein. Then save up a couple hundred more and buy a Benelli M1 used off the interwebs for under $700.

You are always welcome to use one of my guns if Im at the match.

I Have the CZ720, With work done on it by Kirk and Kurt. It ran Great in the only 3-gun match I have competed in so far. It would run better if I would have time to practice loading it. :)

Oh and don't just think about starting 3 gun, DO IT!

Listen to Jesse. If you have the chance just do it. The closeset 3 gun match to where I'm living right now is over 8 hours away and I'm pulling my hair out wanting to get started. My wife thinks it is hilarious when I'm sitting in the basement practicing weak hand shotgun reloads for a game I've never had a good chance to play yet...

I saw over at the Enos forums. You might want to jump on this.

[background=rgb(250, 251, 252)]I am thinking of selling mine.....It is a 930 Waterfowler that I purchased last christmas.....I added a 24" non-ported barrel that I special ordered from Mossberg....A 9+1 Choate magazine extension.....Yea, I know everyone wants Nordic, but, truthfully, I have never had any problems with the half dozen choate extensions I have used and this one works flawlessly as well......I also added a extended Light Modified Briley choke and Choate Combat bolt handle.....Needless to say I have a lot more in this gun than what you can currently purchase a JM model for.....I will take $500 for the gun plus whatever it costs to ship it to your ffl.....I don't have the original 28" barrel that came with the gun.....I sold it shortly after getting the 24"......Oh, I have added some FO sights from Dick's....they work pretty good but nothing fancy[/background]

Taymoore has a CZ for sale 3 gun ready for a really good price!!
