Beautiful 10 point. Shame he didn't get him to put on the wall. Did you spot him bedded down? I know around here, if you glass real good, sometimes those antlers will stick up in the tall grass.

We were feeding cows and just barely spotted him as he put his head back down. We went ahead and fed cows for another hour and came back to get him. I was standing on the back of the pickup as my brother snuck up there. The deer had moved about 15 yards farther away so we honestly thought he had left when he wasn't where we saw him the first time. After he made the shot, we really thought he got him. In the video as he's running over the hill he kept tripping and kind of stumbling. We just knew he would go down. We went to town and ate lunch, giving it a good hour. When we came back we looked and looked finding no blood. We found where he shot at him and finally found the arrow. No blood or hair on the arrow. A clean miss. We knew then there was no hope of finding him.

And now, The Rest of The Story...

Fast foward two months...

We pasture our cattle on our wheat ground during the winter so they have something to eat and we won't have to feed them hay everyday. When the weather looks nasty, snow or rain, we shut them off so they don't stomp the wheat into mud. We had the cattle shut off the wheat but they had got out anyways. My brother went to find where they had got out. He found a good sized hole in the fence so he patched it up with wire and drove a couple posts. As he was walking back to his pickup he tripped on something. Thinking it was just a stick buried in the snow, he looked down and couldn't believe what he saw....
He had tripped over that deers right antler. He knew immediately it was that deer. He began to look around and not 10 yards away was the other antler. Talk about luck. The deer survived to grow another year, we got an awesome video, and my brother found his sheds!
