Since @Joe C likes naming his pistols, I thought I would name this "the happy accident". This was my original 1911 University class frame. I did the vast majority of the work on the frame with rounding the edges, filing out the mag well, trigger channel. I also did most of the fitting and shaping of the grip safety. It actually was turning out pretty well.

Then came the time for slide to frame fit, and my brain fart. I thought I saw .950 as the dimensions of the frame rails height, and actuality it was .995. By the time I noticed it, I had gone past .995 making for a looser fit (needless to say I was pissed at myself). After realizing this (as well as 10 minutes of non stop cussing), the fact it did not meet Joe's exacting standards for slide to frame fit, he came up with the idea that it would make a a great designated lower for a .22 conversion (something we had discussed previously). I have the slide of the .22 conversion from a previous build from Joe, The Special White Knight. Since I carry The Special White Knight frequently, I rarely have the conversion on it. I had it on a crappy series 80 frame I had laying around, and use it in the backyard with a suppressor.

So we decided to keep that for the designated lower, and started on a different frame for my class gun. After the class was over, Eric finished up the framework, the stippling, as well as Marvel Pattern Cut on it. He also fit the thumb safety and flat trigger. It turned out awesome. So this is a combination of a Joe gun, me gun, and Eric gun. So what initially felt like a mistake, turned out well for everyone. I got another CCP, which I have a fair bit of personal work in it. Joe and Eric got to sell another .22 conversion lower. The only loser was my gun fund :p

So here is The Happy Accident. I got to put 10 rounds through it to function test it. This weekend I plan on shooting the crap out of it in the backyard.

Not to be a jerk, but you were shooting for .0995" and you got .095...or some such ridiculous number...LOL! It wasn't funny at the time but it was later. And it turned out great in the end! That's a super cool pistol!

Revisionist history on my part :D I was pissed that day, but we did get some good laughs out of it the rest of the week.

I loved that show.
I had never watched it until a couple of years ago. We were visiting the oldest son and his family and my wife said something about she'd rather watch paint dry than whatever he already had on. He found Bob Ross on Amazon Prime and turned it on to irritate her but after about 10 minutes she was hooked because of his calming voice.:D
