I've been a pistol instructor for the army's military police school for about three years now and today was the first day I saw a female trainee shoot 50/50 on qualification. That was awesome. It's made even better by the fact that this training company had an even longer break between initial training and qualification. Normally, they get a whopping four hours' of instruction (an hour and a half of which is on maintenance of the pistol), followed by one iteration in the Electronic Skills Trainer (computer-simulated qualification), then they have a five-week gap between training and qualification where it's up to their drill sergeants to keep them focused on the fundamentals. This is one of the companies that had an additional gap because of a two-week break for Christmas and New Year's, where they go home on leave.
I'm awfully happy to have been able to witness this and while the MP school's qualification is a joke for anyone who knows how to shoot, perfect scores among trainees are rare. Hopefully this is the start of a new trend, though I doubt it.
