Texas State Tactical 2 Gun

I only posted some of my thoughts on the match here, not all of them. This year's match is a gimme, if they listen to some of the good suggestions, it will be a much improved match.
As long as Curly and Trapr leave the AP .308 at home!!

Not a chance It's not often you get a chance to beat the Kurtm by treachery!!!!!!!!!

Here is a montage of some of Mr. Chambers and my stages from day one. I decided not to include the one where my optic goes down due to the profanity.

Curly that brings up a good point, if you weren't there then you don't know how the match was or wasn't!!!

Most of the griping I heard was from second day shooters that complained about only getting to shoot half the stages of the first day shooters. Well then you should have signed up for saturday, the stages were a lot of fun to shoot!!!! but reset killed most shooters and the amount of targets to be engaged hurt as well, simply because you needed to not miss in order to have enough ammo on you. if the match had been a 2 day match the issues would have not been a problem. If they had limited the entries to what they originally had wanted then there wouldn't have been issues also, but then you'd still hear griping because people that waited wouldn't be able to get in to the match to shoot either. No match, No match ever runs flawlessly, Fb3g couldn't get decent results done for the first 2 or 3 years, but it was still a great match. SMM3G, dropped a stage from the final results for the TI shooters and so we all dropped like 15 places in the finals, it is still a match I go to, HPSC had an RO change a start position for the regular competitors, it was to their advantage so all the RO's got worse scores than they should have, on that stage, but I still hold the match. Before anyone throws rocks at a major match's staff, or how issues are handled, hold one of your own, its easy to second guess and complain its better to enjoy the fact that someone decided to hold a match for you!!!

+1 The stages were great day one, we had a load of fun shooting them, and Jeremy and Nick seem like good/smart guys who will learn from their mistakes. If they do that this will be a great match next year. I have never really understood the cumulative scoring thing though. When my optic went down in the middle of a stage day one I really considered bagging my rifle and saving ammo because I knew my match was over with of all the penaltys I took for distance targets I couldnt shoot. It seems like weighted scoring makes so much more sense and levels the playing field. Or at least takes complete disasters like that off the table to some degree. Which seems more fair to the shooter (not just me, I have seen that sort of thing sink guys at our local matches, due to stuf that really was out of their control and I'm sure there were others at this match that suffered my fate). I hope that is a change that they consider too.

oh ya,,, 8 real stages, and 2 play things,,

all the stages were high round count,
I'm sure next year will be better,,

you have to love the trigger time, My Son got the trigger time he needs! too,, a big plus,,
for me,, I did OK,, one of the stages they used,, was one of my worst,,of the match,, so oh well!
I do try to win the match,, be hey,, I do the best I can,, as we all do,,

I have to say,, I'm not missing my shotgun,, :o

Those stages look really outstanding! That's a ton of shooting... I'm going to have to try this one next year for sure.

That looks like a totally badass match!

Edit to add: Just looked at the scores. Good shooting guys! And after watching the videos again, $h!t. Now I'm going to have to build a "real" rifle.

If you hadn't hmhawd around about scoring and prizes and got in for Sat. you could have shot a lot more and still had the sandwich and just maybe Lance wouldn't have cost me the Match

They make boxes for that!

The match was great, besides being the biggest Charlie Frank I've ever seen....

I ended up waaay better than I thought I would after the pistol fiasco. Figured I'd be buried in the lower half.

Well calling them "results" is also ambitious. Trapr and I were writing our times down right off the timer for each other, and what we have is slightly different than what they have as "results". 20-30 seconds here and there can start to add up. There is one score WITHOUT any tenths, wich is suspect and I haven't talked to anyone who's scores were right yet. I still had a blast and look forward to the next one. KurtM

Yeah, they really needed carbons. So THAT'S how I ended up 16th.

Night match scores are posted. Really bummed that we only got to shoot half of it!! It's hard to complain when I still had so much fun...
