Tested .223 today

We tested some CFE powder for our first .223 loads today. Best results so far was 26.0 gr with Sierra 55 gr HPBT. Grouped less than an inch at 100 yards off a rest.

Here is what I didn't expect. Velocity averaged 2744 fps. I expected closer to 3000. Would it be because I'm shooting a 16" carbine? And is that velocity suitable for 3 Gun?

Local gun shop, they told me I might like it, so I picked up a pound. Is it good stuff?

I've not loaded it, but reading about on the inter webz, its getting decent reports.

Keep in mind, every barrel has its own personality.

These days, with CNC machinery, they are like twins, but the occasional red headed run away stepchild still shows up occasionally.

i have used this in my 223 with good results, and have some loaded in 308 168 gb hpbt that i will be testing out at spear point range on the 20th. have had no luck at getting any more from any of the normal venders, powder valley.
