Hello all,

I am wanting to get a day and time set during the week that we can practice at ussa after work. Since ussa has not extended its hours as of now if we could get a set day they may be willing to let us practice after hours so to speak.

My suggested day is on Wednesdays at 5:30/5:45-7:00ish give or take 30 minutes. I know there are several of us that want to already but more would be better.

Who's in or who's got any suggestions?

CK,

Probably need to clear it with the range first.

I talked to Charles this week who said they averaged 2.4 shooters per week in the extended hours. He said it wasn't worth the additional staff cost to keep the range open.

One thought, if they consider having only one extended hours day a week, why not take advantage. But it didn't sound promising

Brook, this chad!!

There really needs to be a day or a few days per week that they are open late.

But, this is just for team practice sessions on wednesday evenings.

Somehow I find it impossible to believe that only 2.4 shooter per week are out there in the evening... I've been out there in the past and always see more than 2 people out after work.
And that was back when we didn't have as many members as we do now....

I clear it with Dave tomorrow that I will stay wednesday night and lock up.
This is what I sent Chad earlier on FB about going to Summer hours.

Chad,
In-regards-to closing at 8pm. This time last year when we made the move to extend our hours we had a full time staff of 20+ and half of the members we are currently at. This year we have 10 full time employees and 2500 members. The idea of going to the summer hours is still being discussed by management, but is very problematic with the current under-manned and highly over worked staff. Please be patient with us on this issue. As you know nothing gets solved up here with any quickness what so ever.

Just some Jason thoughts.... Definitely would like to see a late range night for practice. So thanks JW. I travel extremely heavy and Wednesdays are bad for me but I don't want anyone planning around me. When I'm in ill go.

As for not having a range open after 6 it's seems absurd. How many people actually shoot from 9-12? Ill bet if you opened at 11 and stayed to 8 you would have more traffic anyway. Close one day a week, get the over worked staff a break at least one day and shave off time that way. In fact I think Pat mentioned this is going to happen so, bravo. Most people work so why is the range not catering to the working crowd? Heck send a basic marketing study out to the members and ask for feedback.

I know the members want it because I would want it. The members have more power than any single one of the remaining staff (10 Left ). If all of you were to post on the USSA TG Facetube page and elicit an emotional response out of other members and employees of USSA, then there you go... Majority Rule.

Someone should at least test the idea of changing hours 2-3 weekdays. I imagine firearm and accessory sales would likely take a bump as well. I love majority rule BUT as a business owner and manager I will run my business of how it is best for me. i.e whatever makes me the most money. But a marketing study would tell you if that was a good move or not.

You're in a tough spot, I get it. Being a USSA team member I don't think it is in our best interest to post something against the club when we are here to support it. It would almost be mutinous. I have never been asked by whoever runs the place my thoughts but I would gladly give them some if they want them.

I'm glad to be a part of the team and the club. It's our job as team members to be supportive of the club.

The main problem as i see it would be lighting. I agree that staying open later would be a benefit, however staffing is problematic. if the academy opened later that would help, but then you ask staff to stay later. I like to get home as early as possible and i am sure that most of the staff feel the same way, so their is the conundrum.

Being the only Team Member working at USSA I have and will be supportive of the Teams Training needs as well as ALL of the Members Range Usage, treating you all as people and not dollar signs. I have and will continue to support the needs of our members and everything that USSA stands for. That being said I will try my damnedest until I succeed.

You guys are all we have right now as far as marketing goes, besides FB and word of mouth.

its light out now that the time has changed until at least 730-8 and the its only going to stay light out later as the summer comes along.

even with 10 employees at the range that should be enough to cover those 3 if not two (open til 7) hours. I used to have to staff a 10k square foot facility with 5 employees and hours of 0630-2030. Its difficult but not impossible and you can still provide a high level of service with minimal staffing.

I know people like to get home at a decent time but it also depends on the profession you have chosen and the people you aim to serve. A few extended hours of service should not be that difficult to cover.

I appreciate everything JW is trying to do for us and I wish everyone out there had the same attitude as he does!!!

If you drink JW I will buy you a drink or a bottle anytime! If not, then I'll buy you a case of your favorite soda pop?

This thread wasn't started for complaints/gripes/recommendations either. It was started based on mine and JW's conversation on facebook to set up a time for the "team" to be able to practice one night a week after normal business hours.

JW graciously volunteered to stay and help us out and stay late on a night for us. There are several of us who are shooting 5+ major pistol matches this year and the first one is only a month away.

So back on topic with what night would work best for everyone?

My schedule is a challenge due to having two non-driving highly involved teenagers, as most evenings I'm a chauffeur from 6-9 for their activities. And I have to travel some for work, which is usually mid week. So I to would defer to whenever the group agrees and would come as often as possible.

It would be terrific to have any practice time, especially so with the team to critique, correct and push me to improve.

CK, appreciate you leading the effort. Will support you the best I can.

Brook, I'm not driving this bus. I'm rarely out of work by 6 so I will defer to the other members of the team but I should point out some folks might attend church on Wednesday nights so you might consider Thursdays? If I can shake loose, I'll make it but, if not, I don't want anybody waiting on me.

Jw does not work on thursdays so thats not an option and I cant do thursdays due to working til 7. Mondays would be ok too i guess. that way our mistakes are fresh on our minds and we know what to work on.
