I'm John Beaty. I grew up in Arlington Texas, went to college at Tarleton State University, and joined the active military as an Engineer with a Sapper unit. Was in active duty and transfered over to the Oklahoma Army National Guard. I have been an Assistant Professor of Military Science at OSU for several years. During that time I realized Cadets were joining the military and had never handled a pistol. Discovered that there was a nonfunctional club for practical shooting at OSU and had my Cadets reinitiate, and me becoming the advisor. Since then we have grown from 5 Cadets to 45 students. Of those 45 students about half are Cadets, the rest are students of the University. Making the club the only collegiate shooting team in the state of Oklahoma. This has been a labor of love for me and the club keeps growing every semester. This past year has been the biggest leap of growth and participation. I give this credit to the individuals we have reached out to for guidance and mentorship, and thank you for everything.
Special thanks to: Robbie and Lonnie for all your time and mentorship with the students. Jesse Tischauser for mentorship with social media and branding. Landon Rogers and the Rogers family for Camo Corner and letting us have our own shooting range for practice. David Sloan and being there to help me in the beginning.
