Target Stands at OKCGC

The last few times I've practiced at the gun club, i've had to scrounge through all the bays to find target stands and sticks. Is this a new thing? Do we need to bring our own now?

The trailer is secured in the new building. I know it sort of stinks but it's for the good of the club's props. Those target stands go missing like you wouldn't believe.

There are a few left out but I'd bring my own to make sure there were some for you to use.

I have always brought my own as I wanted to make sure I did not have to hunting for stands.

I actually wouldn't believe that they go missing, given how they're always rusted-over and well-used. Maybe it's my perception. I really just needed to know if I need to bring stands and sticks from now on, and it looks like "yes". Where are you all buying the furring strips?

Home Depot, 1 X 2 X 8 and have them cut it in half. It's also surprising how long the sticks last when they are yours :nyam:
Now if I could just keep up with my staple gun.....

If you don't buy from MGM, build some out of PVC pipe. Thats what I did, and it's very easy and cheap to do.

That's what I did as well when I first became a member of the club then when I realized stands were always available I tossed them after about a year of looking at them. Guess I'll be buying some from MGM in the future, that's great, add more crap to the abundance of crap I already have.

Also..we could add signage at the bays stating any member or any member's guests caught stealing anything from the club being kicked out...denutted...and banned for life...
If they are taking stuff to shoot somewhere else..they don't need to be at the club anyway

Kurt Miller told me he's going to put out some target stands and old sticks for us to use. That guy is a hero. In fact, he's my only sports hero.

We have tons of signs at our range, and it still doesn't stop the idiots from doing stupid things. They have shot up our texas star, and the swinging texas star on the pistol bays where the signs say rimfire or center fire pistol only with steel penetrators. I welded them all back up, but I could have spent the time doing other improvements vs repairing idiots damage.

Two days ago, I go by the 50 meter range and see a white bottle half way to the berm, along with a lot of cotton debris.

Opened up the top and instantly spotted tannerite, along with a dozen gouges in the ground where they had missed it. Those rounds went over the berms and into nobody knows where. Have no clue why they left the one they missed there unless somebody drove up and they bailed.

You can't stop idiots. We have talked about camera's. Still not sure how much good they would do. We have watched the ones on TV and they never show a tag number, just a vehicle and somebody walking around after dark.

I wish there was an easy fix. I'm glad we have a nice place to shoot and appreciate what the club does to improve the range. It always sucks when the actions of a few affect us all.

what sucks is you have access to something that was never intended to be supplied, and when its gone, its expected and folks cat lady about it.
Its also why we will never get rid of obamacare or welfare.
