Anyone here train in Taekwondo? My sons and I train with an excellent instructor in ATA Taekwondo. Right now I'm still a color belt student,(brown). While I get the benefit of better fitness and flexability, I can see it is a long journey to think myself completely confident in a street fight. But it seems a useful skill and enjoyable, not to mention the training only helps other aspects of my life, such as shooting. Only problem so far is having a 21 year old brain in a 51 year old body. Last fall I had to lay off everything for 6 months (4 off work) due to an injury sustained in tournament sparring. But there was just no way I was going to let a 50 year old man with a mullet kick my ass.

I'm 42 now and I just started training in American Bushido Kai Karate, I didn't realize it's been over 8 years since I have trained in martial arts and I was wondering how I was going to do now that I'm 42. Only 3 classes under my belt, having to start at white again, I'm feeling pretty good so far and I am also hoping it might help me focus more with my shooting as well. Martial arts like conceal carry, you may never need it, but just the fitness aspect alone makes training in martial arts worth it to me.

For som reason it won't let me edit my post???? But what I was trying to say we also have a bunch of training knifes and guns that we go over defending against just in case someone pulls one of these weapons on you.

Yeah, I probably won't be kicking anyone in the face...unless I'm attacked by the Lollipop Guild :sarcastichand:
