I think I bought about 10 extra spring/screws if anybody wants one. If your local bring your rifle over and we can hook it up or I'll mail you a set of parts.

Very good idea.
What was the thread pitch of the tap? 8-32, 10-32?
If you compare the replacement spring against the original, could a person just cut some coils off the original?

Good video!
I'd suggest Loctite 222 threadlocker on small screws. It is purple and a bit lower strength.

If you used a JP silent captured buffer you wouldn't have to put that buffer detent back in. :D

Look up "galvanic corrosion"
Mike is correct. Many people dont even know what galvanic corrosion is.

You can use a brass screw instead of steel & you'll be good to go.

Here's a cheat sheet I keep at my desk at work for reference.

That would have been great info two days ago! I've got blue, red, and green loctite and thought I had the entire collection already.

There are several other DIY videos on YouTube that tell you what parts to buy from Ace Hardware. The springs are shorter. They stick out about 1/8". I'm sure you could cut the old ones. It's not like that detent spring is really vital to functionality.

I can't afford 15 of them at once. This lower doesn't even have an upper yet.

My match guns all have them. I buy a couple more each year. I absolutely love the SCS.

There should not be a potential difference of more than ~0.25-.5V in my safe with the golden rod keeping the air warm and dry. So galvanic corrosion likely won't occur. If it does it will likely be my nephews grand kids who have to deal with it.
