We have a thread about winter time carry and some of the peculiarities that go along with it (i.e big coats, cords on fleece tops etc.) but we haven't had a lot of discussion about pure, hot, sweaty, summer time carry. Some people wear flimsy gyms shorts and flip flops all summer and I know they can't carry a full size gun when they do.

Do you find yourself adjusting your type of carry gun during these hot summer months?

I will admit that I do things a little different. I normally carry IWB and always wear an undershirt next to the gun. However, in the summer I don't always wear an undershirt so I make some adjustments. Like my Triple Crown paddle holster and a lightweight cover shirt (old picture)

Sometimes I even slip my Ruger LCP inside my cargo shorts pocket (the regular pocket, not the leg pocket) with a Looper leather holster

I always wear an under shirt when I carry.
Concealed carry is supposed to be comforting, not comfortable, remember?
Kahr CW9 IWB for me wearing cargo shorts and a t-shirt for cover.

I agree but to be perfectly honest, sometimes I just don't want to wear an undershirt. Maybe I'm laying around in shorts and a T and want to go down to the store or run out for a bite to eat. I know its not perfect but it does happen from time to time.

Glock 26 is still my all time fav carry gun. Some people "claim" to pocket carry it but I "claim" they are full of crap

Subscribed..I'm in the market for a new compact for summer carry. Glock 19 in summer clothes and Recaro seats in my car make it almost impossible to carry in my old faithful holster anymore. I'm looking for another pocket carry gun. I've already tried keltec p3at and diamondback db380 hated both of them. Leaning towards glock 42 or xds

I carry a Keltec PF-9 IWB year round. I always wear an undershirt since the leather sticks to my side when I sweat.

I've though about a pocket carry option LCP or similar but never have pursued it any further.

If you do decide to pocket carry, please put some time in doing draw practice.

I practice on my draw from concealment at least 3 times a week, which is a hell of a lot more than I practice my draw for my competition setup.

It doesn't really get cold here in Florida were I live, so we deal with this year round. I tend to weat short sleeve button up shirts or Hawaiian shirts a lot, with an undershirt. Hawaiian shirts work really well as the patterns tend to help break up the outlines and make it harder to tell someone is carrying. You just have to be mindful to wear one that is long enough and a little baggy. Biggest thing with warm weather carry is holster choice and placement. A good ammount of forward cant will help hide even a full size pistol. Even in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt I carry a full size Glock 22 in a Crossbreed holster.

When I am not wearing an outer shirt and just a tshirt and shorts, I tend to picket carry more. I like the smaller pocket guns like the Ruger LCP9 for that, Put it in a pocket holster and you'd never even know I have one with me.

We can't open carry in FL unless you are hunting, fishing, or camping. A always open carry when hunting and camping, but not when I fish. When I fish I usually pocket carry.
