My boys had some friends over Saturday night and unwisely showed off one of their Production rigs. Yep, one of them stole it. We'll see how good the Kenucky State Police is.

Hard lesson for my kids, their dumbass friends will steal from them.

Four boys stayed at my house Saturday night. One is guilty. Hopefully the State Police will take it seriously and figure it out. Matt and Zach are dumbfounded, but it's a lesson if nothing else. These guys were suposedly good friends, and school mates. Now I'll never allow any of them around until the guilty one is caught. It especially pisses me off that I specifically told my boys to NOT get out any guns while I was gone. Teenagers are so stupid an some ways.

By "production rig" do you mean "gun" or belt, holster, etc?

If its the former, that's REAL bad. if its the latter its still bad; but less bad

Got a call from KSP tonight. Not over yet, but I'll say I'm so happy my son marked the bottoms of his mags!

The kid took his XD 40 and 2 mags.

Did you not know the serial number of the pistol? I have a log of serial numbers of all of my firearms. I learned my lesson when my house was burglarized a couple years ago.

Did they find the pistol?

I have s/n. but they called asking if we marked the mags. At that point, the gun had not been recovered, but a kid had possession of at least one of the mags. Just learned from teenager text grapevine, he is in custody now. Hopefully tomorrow I'll learn if they got the gun too.

What a stupid dummy head. Are these kids really poor or just really dumb?
Jesse, I don't think poor has anything to do with it. This kid has been to my house quite a bit. We've shot shotguns, and .22 on my mini range. I've fed him and welcomed him into my home, and tried to mentor him. He had me fooled. Hell, if he would have asked, I would have taken him to shoot matches with us. Now at 17, he is a felon. That is sad in itself. But for the life of me I don't know how he figured to get away with it. He was even texting the boys earlier yesterday asking if we found the gun. You just cannot fix stupid!!!

Now I also worry about what happens next. They all go to school together, so I'm hoping that somehow the kid gets sent somewhere else. I really don't need for my boys to do something stupid and get into trouble.

And they say we will miss these days...

I hope, for your son's sake, the guilty POS realizes the crime he committed is worse than your son doing the right thing and telling the authorities. Retaliation would be a fear even though your son did nothing wrong, aside from showing the gun while you were gone. And I hope the guilty POS's parents do not try to make their son the victim. I can hear it now "but he was just jealous that your son has nice things and he doesn't. He just thought that since your son has so much that it isn't fair and he wanted some of it too. It's not his fault."
The entitlement of the lazy and victim-role-play of the guilty in 'Merica today is sickening.
Anyways hope it works out and all parties involved become better from it.

Man I'd hate to see anybody get a felony. I hope this scares the elephant dung outta him enough to not do anything stupid in the future. I know I had my moments of stupidity in my youth. He needs a trip to boot camp!

Army set a lot of us down the road to righteousness. This kid told me he was just waiting to get out of high school so he could enlist. Pretty sure he screwed that pooch. I'm just glad the pistol was recovered before something terrible happened. It's still hard to wrap my brain around it, he sure had me fooled. Now I'm second guessing my parenting skills for not recognizing the bad egg. I have let my son stay at his house when they worked tobacco together. Police told me he had drug paraphernalia, and had been in trouble before for drugs. At least my boys know I will and have made them piss in a cup.
